What They Had
Just wondering if anyone had seen this new to Netflix but not new movie. It wasn’t good in the sense of being an entertaining little escape but I think that it was very well done. Definitely some bits that hit too close to home.
Was a tough weekend for me. My Mom’s cognitive decline seems to be accelerating. It’s hard for me to fathom that less than 8 months ago she was still driving and we had considered taking her on a vacation. The TV has been an issue for some time but this weekend a light switch caused a panicked phone call from her. She also has her iPad in AL. I have it in assistive mode (a HUGE thank you to the person that posted about that) so she doesn’t have unsupervised access to email. She had hand written a reply to an email from a friend and wanted help with it. It didn’t make any sense. Mostly random snippets of thoughts strung together. Some of the words weren’t even words and I couldn’t figure out what she was trying to say. She seems to have an awareness that it didn’t make sense though. The last thing that she wrote was that she hoped her friend didn’t think she was crazy.
I don’t know how I was under the misguided impression that the physical decline would go hand in hand with the cognitive decline. She is still continent, showers daily and dresses herself (although she wants to wear the same unlaundered thing for days on end including socks).
Just received a phone call from AL, she has managed to lock herself out of her iPhone this morning. She’s in a panic and keeps messing with it (probably because she’s trying to call me to ask me how to change the channel) which keeps increasing the lockout time. They are going to hide it from her until the lockout expires and I can get there.
It’s beyond sad.

Hi notequipped - sorry, no Netflix...
But yes, so very much of 'this' is just so bizarre! MIL will still use the bathroom, but in the same sentence of asking where that is (in her own home), will ask if she has any family. We tell her, then she wants to know where her mom and dad are. Then she just turns and does something totally off the mark, for example, just goes and changes her shoes. Or suddenly wants a drink of water. No rhyme nor reason. Just jump to a random subject.
Agree - the way their thought processes are, sure does keep us on our toes. Also, it appears you have a glimpse of that with the letter your mom was writing. Kind of interesting.
Sorry you are dealing with it, though
