Hallucination Distractions

What has been successful when trying to distract a love one with hallucinations if they won’t be easily distracted? My grandmother has always been strong willed and we are having trouble helping her through hallucinations because she just won’t be distracted.

I have caught my wife talking to people that are not there. I figure as long as she won't get hurt then there is no reason for me to distract her.

Her hallucinations are as real to her as the hand before your face. Will you pay believe a person who tells you it is not there?

You will not be successful trying to distract her. You MAY be successful in agitating her over them.

If she is fearful of them or cause her distress, there are certain meds that can help. Otherwise, I would just not worry about them.

Can you describe what is happening? You may get more useful advice if you can give an example.

Hi and welcome. I am sorry for your reason to be here but pleased you found this place.

Do the hallucinations bother her? Are you trying to redirect away from something that bothers her or are you trying to reorient to your reality for some other reason.

My dad had delusions (False beliefs) that upset him, but his hallucination (what he was actually seeing and hearing) weren't upsetting to him. We medicated for delusions but not hallucinations.
