2nd PET scan after 1 year on Leqembii...

Hi,

I saw my Neurologist yesterday to get the results of my second PET scan. My 1st PET, a year ago, showed I had 49% plaque in my brain due to Alzheimer's. Yesterday she told me the results of my second PET scan..... wait for it...(with a drumroll) 19% plaque!!!! Leqembi must be working!!! I am very pleased.🥰 Had to share.

I agree that is good news. I'm wondering about the units in your report (I'm an Engineer by training). Typical results from an amyloid PET scan are in units of Centiloids (CL). On this scale, zero represents the average for a younger person without AD, and 100 represents the average of a person with AD. In the Phase 3 clinical trials they measured the amyloid levels of participants, some had amyloid plaque levels over 200CL.

In my amyloid PET scan, my results after 49 Leqembi infusions was 9.3CL. I don't have a starting amyloid level (I had a lumbar puncture as part of my AD diagnosis, not an amyloid PET scan).

    Hi LBC83,

Ok. So my original ALZ diagnosis was infact done via a lumbar puncture. Additionallg, I had a PET scan when i started Leqembi. I dont think she gave me the where I started plaque numbers and where I was the other day number, I think that she just maybe gave me a percentage of maybe indicating how much it had disappeared from my brain. I had been at the hospital since about 7am when I got he PET scan and had to wait around for about 5 hours for the Dr. appointment to review to results so I was really tired and may have misunderstood all the details she toldme. I apologized for not being accurate and or specific. I do know that she was very pleased with the results of the approximately one years worth of infusions taken so far. Next time i see her I will ask her to write down the details so I can share them with the group. Thanks for your insight. GE
