From Michael Ellenbogen (via Lane): Alzheimer's Disease Drugs in Development 2023

This report on Alzheimer's drugs under development comes out annually. I believe that certain antioxidants provide the best chance of treating the disease. I counted 5 out of 187 drugs/natural products that act as antioxidants.

Beautiful, important question, Iris. I should have specified them in my originial post (I missed two of them while counting off the chart). They are:

    Phase 3 Clinical Trials

Omega-3 (in fish oil and walnuts, for example),

Hydralozine-hydrochloride (used to treat high blood pressure),

Icosapent ethyl (a type of fish oil)

    Phase 2 Clinical Trials

Edaravone (used to treat stroke and ALS)

DHA (a type of Omega-3 found in fish oil)

Flos Gossypii Flavonoids (derived from a flower of the same name)

    Phase 1 Clinical Trial

CMS 121 (derivative of the flavanoid fisetin which can be found in strawberries among other fruits and vegetables)

I just noticed that only Hydralozine-hydrochloride and Flos Gossypii Flavanoids are the only ones being studied for mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The others are earlier interventions.

This is too complicated. The only ones I recognize are fish oil, walnut and strawberries, and a blood pressure medicine, which I am already eating and on. Flavanoids are in oranges. I have to keep things very simple for myself because my memory and cognition have been compromised. But thank you for responding, Lane.

I agree it is not something a ad patient should not even attempt to read and understand that!
