mom forgetting me

Yesterday my mom didn't realize who I am. When I said I was her daughter, it didn't click. She just said, oh. It was a numbing moment for me. I just sat there numb. I couldn't move. She rambled & I just sat there. Sad moment.

Hi irene912 - I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. Yes, when a LO does not recognize us is so hurtful! It is not unusual, but that sure doesn't make it easier once that happens.

Happened earlier than I thought. Previous times when she needed reminded, it clicked. She would say, of course you are are my daughter. Not now.

I am so sorry as I unfortunately know your pain as well. The first time my mom did that, I was completely shocked and lost it. I was not expecting it and was not ready for that. In that moment she also became very scared while screaming for my dad. I'm trying really hard to be more present in the moments when she does know me and is connected with me. Hang in there. It sure isn't easy or fair!
