My poor wife

She's still recovering from the fall and now she has covid, not eating and is lethargic and fatigued. I've been down as well. Getting tested tomorrow.

I just hope all of this doesn't hasten her demise or maybe I should but I can't do that. She's in bad shape and I don't want to see her go on like this but I can't hope she dies either. What an awful place this disease puts us in.

PS, it's even harder because I can't be there to try and comfort her.

so sorry. You probably need to make a quick decision about whether you want her hospitalized if necessary or if you want hospice. I’d go with hospice if it were me. My partner was in the hospital for a week last November and I won’t do it again.

I am so sorry. I would also pursue hospice rather than hospitalization. Dementia is so cruel on so many levels.

OMG, I'm so sorry this happened to you. You are doing the very best you can for her, but can't help but agree that anything that prolongs her suffering or upsets her unduly doesn't seem right. Remember that even if you do call in hospice, they can also stop services if they are no longer needed, and it's not a financial commitment because of Medicare. Take care of yourself as best you can.

So sorry you are going through more. Hospice is a great resource that is under estimated. People go on and off hospice all the time. My best to you. Kathy

I so remember that point in time when I couldn’t wish my DW would pass but also couldn’t wish for her suffering to go on. AD does put us in terrible positions. Hope you and your DW recover shortly from Covid.
