Dad is 61 with EO - just looking for support <3
Sometimes it's hard for me to hear about how amazing and lighthearted my friends lives are (I'm 28) which I sometimes feel guilty about.
It's all hard, just looking for support and some kindness. thank you <3

yes it is a very difficult and challenging journey to navigate, especially since your dad is young. I have been on this journey for over two years now, and my mother has been living with us for over a year and a half. A very difficult process, moving her in with us to another state, but it had to be done.
I have learned in this process that there is no real treatment plan for this disease, but there are some medications available to help the process become a little less stressful. I have also learned to keep my expectations to a minimum since there is no cure, and all medications that we have tried have been trial and error.
Give yourself grace each day for this is a very difficult journey.
Hope this helps.

I am so glad you found this group. It is a difficult journey that none of us here want to be on. The people here have been through it all. If you need advice or support we are here for you. No one gets through this making all the “right” decisions and saying all the “right” things. Your best is all you can do.

Welcome!! Although the circumstances are less than ideal, we’re so glad you’ve found this place. I relate heavily to the guilt over watching your friends having the freedom you wish you could have. I’m 25 and I feel like I should be doing so much more than being here and taking care of my mom (diagnosed with Alzheimer’s two years ago). If there’s one thing i’ve learned during this journey is to be gentle with yourself. There are going to be days where taking care of your LO feels very fulfilling and you will feel grateful that you get to spend this time with them, but then there will also be times where you ask “why me?” and you see all your friends doing things that you want to be doing, and it may make you angry or sad or jealous. It’s rough out here, but you will always find support here. So much love to you and your dad. He’s very lucky to have you and your mom🩵

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My father in law, who is 63, recently got diagnosed and is progressing quickly. It’s so hard to see someone you love turn so fast and there’s nothing we can do except enjoy the time we have together, take videos and create memories. My husband isn’t taking it very well because he and his father are best friends. All this to say, we’re here for you, hug your dad and know he loves you and you love him. Hard things aren’t easy and no one ever knows what each of us is going through, so give yourself grace, self care and be present. Thanks for sharing too!🩷1
