Sundowning

Hello ! I am new here just looking for advice. My mom is 53 years old and in the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease. She starts sundowning around the time I get home from work and I’m looking for tips and advice on how to deal with it. Im so tired after work and I just want to relax so I get frustrated. She is on meds for anxiety/agitation already but once it wears off it’s bad. Should I ask the psychiatrist on Friday for meds to help with sundowning that we could give prn ? Should I try CBD? Im open to any suggestions. Thank you.

welcome to the forum. The best medications for sundowning are the atypical antipsychotics like Seroquel and Risperdal. These work best if given daily and not as needed. Ask the doctors for their advice.
is she alone during the day while you are working? I would be concerned if she is.
