Sundowning

Hello ! I am new here just looking for advice. My mom is 53 years old and in the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease. She starts sundowning around the time I get home from work and I’m looking for tips and advice on how to deal with it. Im so tired after work and I just want to relax so I get frustrated. She is on meds for anxiety/agitation already but once it wears off it’s bad. Should I ask the psychiatrist on Friday for meds to help with sundowning that we could give prn ? Should I try CBD? Im open to any suggestions. Thank you.

    Hi Barbara,

Would you be able to afford an aide to assist you, so you could have some downtime when you get home? Other members here will be better able to discuss what assistance she's eligible for in order to get some help and take some of the care burden off of you. And yes, definitely talk with her doctor about meds.

we have a caregiver but if I’m home she just wants to be with me and she’ll pace everywhere she won’t even sit down. And my 16 year old brother is home so I don’t want to leave it up to him.
