My mom is still in the hospital, waiting to transfer to MC. I had been visiting her twice a day (the hospital is literally 3 blocks away) and then dropped back to once a day.

The charge nurse and the doctor say that it's helping keep her calm, the familiar face. Yet, when I'm there, my mom takes it as a signal that I am there to pick her up and take her home, so I'm not fully seeing the benefit. It seems to agitate her when I leave without her. Then she sundowns and will keep calling me wondering why she can't leave.

I visit more to appease myself than anything. I miss her, and I hate seeing her suffer. I worry she feels abandoned (I know she has MD, so I can't "project" how she's feeling with any accuracy). However, one of the reasons I dropped back to once a day is because it was exhausting me and tearing me apart emotionally. I'm wondering if I miss a day, if it will make a difference since she doesn't know the day/time/year or passage of time anyway? I hate saying this, but I could use one day just to recover before the next challenge of getting her into MC this week.

Yes, take a day. She’s safe. I took 2 days this weekend bc I’m moving to MC next week too and my husband took my daughter away and it has really helped. Take a Day.
