Hi Ricardo, My Name is Vicki and I am a very active 81 year old. Still taking care of my self, still driving, very independent, and living alone This past Friday I was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. I am not sure what drugs would be a good choice. My Dr has recommended lecanemab, but it is so expensive (Blue Shield in CA doesn't cover it) and I have concerns about the brain bleeds. Any suggestions?

    Thanks Vicki

Welcome, Vicki. How are you doing? I'm sure you mean you were diagnosed with early stage AD, because early or young onset AD begins at age 65 or earlier. Have you had a PET scan to diagnose amyloid buildup in the brain?.

I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s this month (Sept 2024). I was given a PET Brain scan in which the beta amyloid plaques were clearly visible, this confirmed the ALZ diagnosis. I am in the early stages, I am somewhat forgetful but fully functional. I am taking memantine and donepezil and in the process of getting insurance approval for leqembi infusions. I’m 72 and my wife is my cheerleader, prayer warrior and biggest supporter! My children are huge support as well! I’m not looking forward to traveling this road, but I know I’m in God’s hands and I trust Him completely!

Hi all, I have been on the waiting list for the local Veterans Home in Boston for almost a year and my wife got an email today saying sometime probably in November the Veterans will want to see me again and see what type of help I may need do to my dementia. Depending on what they say I could be in the Veterans Home by the new year.

Good morning everyone, I do not know who has been following my journey but my nightmares seem to be returning they are getting more and more frequent . I am seeing my neurologist after the first of the year and I will tell her what is going on and see what she says maybe she will increase my Quetiapine or give me something else. My wife says if it gets to bad she will try to get me an earlier appointment.
