Me time in the morning

For 50 years DH enjoyed having his morning cup of coffee in the den watching the news. I enjoyed my time in the kitchen having my cup waking up straightening up! More and more he has been in the kitchen sitting in my chair watching every move I make. I understand why but it’s driving me crazy! I miss “my morning” time! We are together 24/7 and all I want is my time in the morning. Any hope ?

I savor my morning coffees in our sun room, watching the sun come up. On days my wife gets up early, it ruins my routine and I do not like it. I totally get it. There will be hope but it will probably be after placement or in stage 8.

I get it. I get up earlier than my husband. I enjoy my mornings, straightening up, making coffee and enjoying the quiet. I feel resentful when he wakes up early. Seems ridiculous, but it’s those little reboots we need. Our tv is on all day from when he gets up to when he goes to bed. Ugh

Same thing here, but a partial solution: enjoy the few times when you do get up first and have that cup of coffee. Don't expect it to happen. Accept that you will need to put down your cup, help him with his own cup, fix his breakfast, find his glasses and bathrobe. Focus on not resenting the intrusion…. Of course I'm able to say this today because I had 20 whole minutes alone!

Oh Gosh….Me too….my DH wants me with him, doing what he wants ALL Day!! I'm envious of some in one of my support groups…their spouse sleeps alot…today has been rough, moving his things every where, can't seem to get organized.

time is so precious my DH wakes at around 4.30am every morning I need the extra 2 hours until 6.30. I indulged this morning in being cranky then didn’t feel good about being so bad tempered on a peaceful Sunday morning. He was pacing the floor not able to unlock the doors to get outside. I’m very lucky he’s not aggressive with frustration. Now sitting together outside with puppy having a cup of tea watching the sun rise on yet another long day, listening to the budgie’s chattering…. life could be so much worth but I am getting so tired. I too need those few minutes of peace.

we live about 1/2 mile from the beach and going there to watch the sun rise is awesome! Thanks for reminding me of what brings peace to my life!

You might try having your coffee in his den for a couple of days. Maybe he'd stay there, but in any case you could have coffee without him watching your AM routine.
