in Caring For a Spouse or Partner

I can’t help you to remember. 

I can’t help you to remember, I truly wish I could. You think I’m someone else, not a creature in my nature. With sweet magic I wish I would. 

You wander from room to room looking for treasures along the way. Putting them in safe places and forgetting where they lay. 


I can’t help you to remember, you think I’m cruel. Loosing your memory of me that is its fuel. 


I wish I could reverse this condition, it has taken you far away from me. Into another universe so I can’t set you free. 


I can’t help you to remember, so I will take your hand and guide you the best I can. Together we can get through this, that will be our plan.

    RetaMeta55 your poem was beautiful and reached me deeply. I too write obscure poetry it helps. I don’t share with anyone because no one understands our difficult journey but I trust this forum so I will share too.

    The Kitchen

    We stand in the kitchen my Gary and me, I cry and I weep and hang on desperately Nothing, nothing he says works anymore. It’s horrible, horrible I close my eyes wondering what it’s all for. My eyes are shut tight, I don’t want to see. The cruel lonely road that awaits for me

    beautiful. I lost my husband Aug 12. A few months before he passed he was very sad and looked at me and said “we’ll get through this” I said yes honey we will. He didn’t know what “this” was. I had breast cancer and he didn’t know. He also didn’t know he would pass a few months later. 😥 Your poem touched me deeply. Thank you. 💜
