    I think they normally want to do an assessment of the client first to determine the level of care needed. In Portland OR the mean cost seems to be $8500 per month.

    10K for a semi private room and not at the highest level of care is what I paid for my grandmother in the greater Seattle area around 3-4 years ago.

    I recommend you become familiar with California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (canhr.org). They have info and fact sheets on a wide variety of topics regarding all sorts of long-term care issues, including Medi-Cal (Medicaid). I haven't been active in this area in a while, but they used to publish reviews of the various facilities (ombuds complaints, civil fines, etc.) It's great that you're being proactive and looking at this issue.
