Afternoon, cloudy and humid. Still working on clearing out closets of winter things. Stripped the bed and washed the linens -they are drying now. Dread making the bed. Clipped Stormy's nails. and got into the quick on one and it bled. I put some styptic powder on it so hope it stopped. Back later.

To put in your yard? Guess I will need to wear our Thunder cap. Washed it a few days ago.

I think I'm finished with the pants. Sprinkled a couple of pairs of linen pants and smoothed out the wrinkles - for the moment. Still have to make the bed. The sun is shining!

The part of my post I didn't get to finish.

I spent a couple hours helping mom sort through the paperwork that overwhelms her. Piles of disorganized stuff irritates her. It's an ADHD thing.

A member of the Silent Generation, she is compelled to keep every bit of ephemera that is handed to her. I'm trying to pull her into the digital age but it's slow going. This meant showing her that we could toss the collection of imaging DVDs as they're all in her electronic chart and sharable. She wasn't sure, so I had to pull them up to show her where they were. Then I tried to toss the patient inserts from her prescriptions. She wanted to hold onto them so she'd know what she taking. I showed her the medication list in her chart which is current. Then she wanted to keep them to re-read if she develops side effects. I showed her a few online and assured her we'd bring it up with her doctor if she has any concerns.

Most of her bills are on autopay split between 2 Mastercards. She is compelled to hold onto both the original bill and the Mastercard statements. I assured her we could access all this pretty easily. I modeled vetting the statement for strange charges and found one. A "recurring charge/direct marketing co. for $7.48. She couldn't tell me what it was for, just that it's always included. I called Citi to get more information which was only a phone number associated with the company. I called them and the loveliest lady with a strong Southern accent helped me. It turned out to be insurance on a cell phone mom had back in 2009. To get it turned off, I had to guess at mom's Google ID (tricky because dad used her log-ins when he forgot his own because of dementia) and the address associated with the account (they were split between 2 houses at the time) when opened and her mom's maiden name. Even the last bit is tricky because mom and her people are extra that way. Mom's mom was born in Northern Maine and is a descendant of the so called filles du roi and originally had a very French surname. But she, and others in her family, went by an English name with the same meaning at times. The lady on the phone could not have been more gracious and gave me enough hints to be able to turn off the charge. If she'd have saved that money, she could have bought a brand new top-of-the line iPhone. She wouldn't be able to use it reliably but she'd have it, LOL.

In other news, she is getting out to walk more. She bragged that she logged a walk on Sunday— all the way to the shopping center and home. She bragged further than she logged it on her Apple Watch. For fun I pulled it up on her phone— here's a screen shot of mom's route. She is predictable. FTR, she bought a blouse I bought myself last week. She didn't know I bought it; it's just that sometimes we're drawn to the same styles.

Yesterday I met the Comcast tech at 7:30. He did a temporary patch and swapped out our TV modem (DH doesn't like the new one) and scheduled a complete replacement of the line in a couple weeks bringing it up to code. He was very nice. Then I took mom for her mammogram (clear so Yay!), to her psychiatrist and then for a haircut. I stopped at Talbots to pick up a shirt they were holding for me, picked up some takeout for dinner and made it home by 5. I sat down, reached into the fridge for a seltzer and it was lukewarm.

It seems like the compressor and it's at least 8 years old, so I checked Wirecutter and Good Housekeeping for recommendations and checked the websites at Costco and my local place. Both had a sale that ended yesterday, so DH and I drove 30 minutes to the appliance store arriving 45 minutes before they closed. I knew what I wanted, they had it and will deliver tomorrow between noon and 4. I'm still waiting to hear from the landscaper about an estimate for another project.

DH and I go away for a couple days next week. I really need one.

HB…I am going through the same things with my sister that yu post about your mother. I have decided that it is best to let her keep stuff no longer needed. It is far easier than bringing her up to speed. It really took some effort and time to "let go". BTW, what is an imaging DVD?

Yes, OKC is all a buzz with the championship within reach. The bars will be packed tonight.

Looks like Flan and Buñuelo in the photo….

Lorita…just curious, why do you have a rain gauge?

Well my Oklahoma friends we have buzzed through your beautiful state with a stop at the Cowboy Museum, which was awesome.

Judith, I had DH on standby to drop by to see if he could get your pan unstuck but alas, didn’t get to make that happen.

Lorita, I didn’t know where to start to look for you.

Since we left home Sunday you can count on the fact DH is ready to be back home. 🤷‍♀️🥺 Me? I would keep driving Westbound.

    Alas, Alabama here we come.

It has been a good little trip and for that I am grateful.

    Judith—

I would happily leave her to keep her stuff, but the clutter stresses her out and she starts refusing to do things she enjoys because she needs to "do her paperwork". This is different than her usual puttering around the house that she'll happily ditch to go do something fun. I offered to take her to the pool or the library the other day and she claimed she needed to organize her papers. This wasn't a huge deal when she was younger because there was less of it and she had stamina to power through such things and then do the fun thing.

The DVDs have copies of X-rays, CT scans and an MRI. The hospital system has copies and/or reports related to them. Plus, some are random one-offs like fractured bones that have been treated/healed.

Jerri…I did get the pan out. It was my carbon steel. I Gave it to my grandson. All I have left is All Clad. I have no idea how so much ended up here but I must say t is wonderful. I am using it and it cleans up spit spat.

Glad you got to the Cowboy. It is special.

Storm passing through now so weather will not get in the way of the game tonight.

Carl and Ron…my thought are with you.

Judith how did a pan get stuck in your stove? Rain gauge - if you live in the country, on a farm or ranch you need to keep check on the amount of rain you get. Helps determine when to fertilize, spray, bale hay or get into town.

JeriLynn, did you notice the difference in the countryside from Western to Eastern Okla? You may have been on I-35 from Dallas to OKC so may not have been west of there. I live in Green Country with lots of meadows. Pastures and trees but lots of open spaces and rolling hills. It is truly Green Country now with all the rain. I bet you'll be glad to be home to check on the babies. Glad you're having a good time. The Cowboy Hall of Fame is sprcial.

We have grass waist high but it's been too wet to make hay. Today was clear but T-storms are coming back tonight, starting about 4 AM and lasting for a couple of days. Hope all you travelers get home safe.

We're supposed to have the Strawberry Moon on June 10-11, the 6th full moon of 2025. Hope it's clear enough to see it.

JeriLym. You're in Green Country. Probably be going over Lake Eufaula if you haven't already. Pretty countryside, isn't it?

Carl, we will be getting the storms about 6 or 7 in the morning, damaging winds up to 60-70 mph, possible hail and could be a spin up. Rinse and repeat Saturday morning. Same here about hay baling. My yard could almost be baled and on both sides of the driveway for sure. Every time I go down the drive I think that Charles would brushhog that if he were here.

Anyone watching the ball game? The Thunder is up ten points!

Lorita - I looked up the bread maker - I think they don't make it anymore. Is yours Bread Factory by Sanyo? That's what I found on ebay. I've been toying with getting a break maker for quite some time. I'm a horrible cook (I can make three things reliably), but I'm a pretty decent baker, and who doesn't like fresh baked bread?

All of your chores are the ones that are waiting for me, and which I'll do on the weekend.

JeriLynn - I love that courtyard. Not sure I could face the flan though. 😄 It sounds (and looks) like you guys have had a really great trip. Love the rainbow pic.

Carl - I think staying in your house for an amount of time is probably a good idea. The only thing I have that relates is when my mom died. My dad opted to stay in their home and I think it was comforting to him. The only thing he wanted changed was he wanted my mom's doll collection out of the house. I'll admit, they were kind of creepy, and I made them go away, pronto.

I think we're supposed to have clear weather in my neck of the woods so hopefully I'll see that Strawberry Moon.

HB - I also suffer from the 'discerning eye.' We always joke here that I like small and tasteful as opposed to large and gaudy. Small and tasteful always costs more.

Man, I hear you about the paper. Every single one of my relatives must have been members of the Silent Generation - even my sister (although technically not that generation). I've burned through two shredders … so much paper. My parents had tax records going back to when they first got married (1956) and my aunt had tax forms going back to the '60s. She also had my grandparent's tax forms also going back to the '50s.

And then there was my dad's 'man cave' - his shed outside. It was jam-packed with papers, including all of the mail he stuffed in paper bags that he just didn't want to deal with. Thanks, Dad. And then there were his lists of students and their grades (he was a junior high school math teacher). When I found the grades I was pretty scandalized, especially since I knew most of those folks.

I have vowed that this will not happen with me. I have two two-drawer filing cabinets and I am ruthlessly going through them and getting rid of anything that I can get rid of.

As for me, we got back from Charleston late last night. Good flight, uneventful, which is what you want in a flight. We got my MIL's living situation squared away. She'll stay in the facility where she already is, she'll just move from independent living to assisted living. She's ready for it, so we have her on a wait list.

We got to go to Folly Beach for lunch to one of our favorite places - The Lost Dog. We all love that place. Here's a pic of one of the walls (yes, they love dogs).

    Lost Dog.jpg

And when we got home all of the rhododendrons were in bloom!

    Rhododendrons.jpg

    So, all is well.

The Lost Dog reminds me of Grandma's in Kansas City. They invited everyone to bring in pictures of grandmothers and the walls were covered with them. There was Grandma in a floral apron with lace trim, Grandma in a ponytail and short shorts on a 1948 motorcycle, you name it. As you might imagine, the food was really good. Thanks, I hadn't thought of that place in years.

    Good morning.

It's a busy morning here. I have emptied the fridge but need to purge the freezer compartment and put the stuff I'm keeping in the garage freezer which will mean purging that too. This would be so much more convenient if I had use of more than the fingers on my right hand. Fun times here.

GG, the flowers are beautiful. I have never seen those around here.Really had a bumpy morning . My phone went off st 5 because we were under a tornado warning. Turned on the tv and the line of storms was headed this way. A !little later we were in The .Middle of the polygon tornado warning. There were several warnings from north to south. This went on for a couple of hours. My phone went off twice warning about a tornado.

The rain knocked out tv reception but I was able to get our weatherman on the tablet. One east of here crossed the highway just in front of one of the storm chasers. Quite a lot of damage in a cemetery in Vian. This is s!ated to happen again early, early in the morning and tomorrow afternoon. After it passed through I went back to sleep for a while. I don't remembe a spring with so many tornado warnings.

GG, my bread maker is Bread Factory. by Sony. I think Charles bought it in the late ,80s or early 90s. It has been a good one. QVC has several that look nice.

Going to have to get the GPs to the vet soon for allergy shots. The last one didn't last as !ong as usual. I know with all the rain the roads are bad. Went to the mailbox yesterday and they didn't look good. Darwin said there had been one car go by on his road and that was the mailcarrier. The sun is shining now.. Back later.

    Good afternoon!

The bank sent me a letter and one-page form to claim the money in DW's checking account. Then today I received an identical package, in an envelope addressed to me, but the letter is addressed to another person. I took it back to the bank and suggested that whoever sends these out needs to pay attention. I made sure DW's account had very little, but the other poor guy may need the money in his LO's account.

Lorita's tornadoes fizzled out before the storm line got to Missouri, so all I had was thunder and rain. It's cloudy and sprinkling, and we expect another 2-3 inches tonight.

Those are some lovely pictures. I'd post pix of my garden, but no one wants to see Missouri weeds so . . .

Zetta, has Gizmo left the nest yet? I saw on TV that Sunny came back to the nest 24 hrs. Later. Then Shadow and Jackie were in the nest with Gizmo eating fish and Sunny came to join them. I thought that wss sweet- all four together.

Lorita. Gizmo still has not left, she is so ready, she sits there and keeps flapping her wings. Sunny comes and goes now, she knows where to go if she's hungry. Gizmo can see the tree they are hanging out on, she just needs to get the courage, to take off. 🦅

I would be the same Way Zetta. Are the parents encouraging Gizmo to leave the nest?

The grasshoppers are back!! Not in the yard yet but out toward the carport. Only about a quarter to half an Inch long but they got up to three inches long last year.

I have four caladium leaves in one planter and another one in another planter about to unfurl So maybe they'll be okay. Also have a couple of Anthea blooms. The clematis on the light po!e has been gorgeous this year but about bloomed out now.

I noticed the flag looked odd so went out to check. The wind has blown so hard it ripped out the bottom grommet so had to fix that and take down the flag til the weather improves. Been a warm and long day. Think I might go to.bed soon and watch tv.

Hope everyone is okay today. Good night.
