Just need to talk to my friends (207)

Lorita, I saw this on X (Twitter). I saw video of the buses too. They are blue and say Oklahoma City Thunder on the back and 2025 Champions on the side.
Pacers Coach Rick Carlisle opens his pregame presser: “I just saw a video with open-top buses presumably for the parade, already painted with them as champions. So that’s what I’m thinking about right now.”

Yes, I donated it to a charity. I had donated my Toyota Sipra years prior. They take care of everything, even if you have misplaced the car title. I also got a $500 charitable deduction for my income taxes.

Oh wow, Ron! That's great news. Fingers crossed that the sale all goes smoothly.
JeriLynn - I love your photos - everything looks so serene.
HB - what a great photo!! Do you remember Liddle Kiddles? With your matching outfits, you kind of remind me of that in that photo. I love the car.
jfkoc — that's great! It sounds like it was really fun.
Iris - what are Red Hat Ladies? I'm sorry about your car. I had that happen with a car once, but they were able to fix it. (whew)
Lorita - be careful with that heat.
It was a lazy day here. I talked to Peggy's kindergarten friend D on the phone today — 2 1/2 hours! We covered a lot of ground. Its' funny, now that it's been a little more than a year since Peggy passed away, our phone calls are a bit different. We focus more on the good things now. She did admit something to me though today — she said that during the last couple of years of Peggy's life, she and M (Peggy's very best friend) would talk on the phone about how to best shield me from some of the stress. I thought that was very sweet of them.
I've been enjoying the long days here. The sun comes up around 5:10am, which means it's pretty bright outside by 4:30am, and the sun sets around 9:10pm, which means there's light in the sky past 10pm.
For those of you who like spicy food - we made chili-garlic tofu with lime rice. We started with this recipe from the chili pepper madness website. It's really good. We've changed the recipe substantially. Instead of shrimp, we use tofu, we make our own lime rice using brown rice, lime juice and lime zest. And finally we add vegetables to it. Today we used broccoli, snap peas, and green beans. Fresno peppers are amazing. Tasty, and about the same heat level as a jalapeno.

My favorite aunt was a Red Hatter and had a lot of fun with it. I'm glad to hear it is still a thing.

The 4 fledged barn swallows returned to their nest last evening and Mama is feeding them this morning.
And: Thunder for the Win! 🥇 Congratulations 🎉

Good morning.
I was probably up as early as Jerilynn this morning. I wasn't sleeping well and around 3 noticed DS was awake because there was a light on. He does this some time. I dozed off and awoke about 30 minutes later to a series of rapid clicking sounds. I came downstairs and asked what the noise was— expletives may have been involved. There were scads of flying insects and DS was zapping them with his trusty electric racket. Ick. I sprayed with an organic essential oil-based spray and they seem gone, but I'll need to pick up some traps. DH was exposed to organophosphates as a bench chemist and doesn't do well around such things— like he can't even walk down that aisle at the hardware store without feeling twitchy.
Lorita— Congratulations on that win! 🏀
Carl— That is a scary car. I still have a dent in my forehead from an accident when someone ran a red light and dad t-boned it. FTR, while dad didn't develop dementia until his 70s, his judgement was always questionable. He bought that car the day after they found out my mother was pregnant with my sister, and it served as the "family car" for a couple years. What were they thinking?Gothic G— I do remember Liddle Kiddles. My sister was very into them. She got the Romeo and Juliet set that came with a story about them living happily ever after which got a serious eye-roll from 10-year-old me. I was more into Barbie.
I wonder if that recipe would work with chicken? The boys like hot and spicy and I'm allergic to soy and shrimp.I need to shower. Mom's got the cardiologist at 11 and the road between her house and the office is closed through the start of school and I imagine the detour will be ugly. This is not convenient at all. She wants me to take her new pants to the seamstress for hemming but she's closed Mondays which means 2 more trips to get that done. She needs to stop buying things that don't fit. she got at least 20 pair of nice summer pants. Enough already.

JeriLynn, I didn't know that baby birds would return to the nest after they had fledged. Your swallows are cute. Ours have fledged as well. Only two of them that I am aware of.
Nerve wracking BB game last night. Bad injury for Hali. Thunder with a lead of 23 slipped down to 10. Glad they pulled it off. I saw that before the game, the Thunder already had open top buses, their color of blue, painted with their name, the Larry O' Brien trophy and "2025 Champions." They knew. 😊
You know how the winning team always put on Champion hats and t shirts after the game? What happens to the winner hats and t shirts the non winning team had printed up in the event they won???
And did you know - bet Lorita did - the Thunder have two players with the same name (spelled differently though): Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams. (Correct me if I'm wrong…I saw this online.)

Morning, big day in OKC with the buses and.big parade. Really good game but sorry about the Pacers player who got hurt. Kind of felt sorry for their team..
Beth, I did not know about those two players. I hadn't really seen many of their games until the finals.
JeriLynne, those little swallows are so cute. I feel so bad about our little ones. I had never seen them fall out of the nest before and no idea what happened to the third one. So, mom is still taking care of her babies?- so sweet.
I feel like banishing my cats. I ordered lantana and they were doing okay on the porch but Rusty ate them down to the ground. I nursed them along and all three were doing well, one even had a little bloom. I was almost ready to transplant them outside. Brought them in last night to keep Rusty away and the cats ate almost all the leaves. Ate one down to the ground. So, will try again.
Need to call and make an appt. For the car, maybe for tomorrow. The refrigerator freezer is icing up again and the icemaker isn't working so will have to get that fixed. Then, there's the lights on the PU dash. I feel like staying in bed with my head covered. Things always seem to come in threes.
Hope all of you have a really good Monday. Back later.

Good morning
Congratulations to my Thunder friends. Love the color of the buses. I know the answer about the Champion hats & shirts for the losing team. They are donated to a organization (homeless shelter, etc) many states away from where they are from.
It's going to be a hot tamale outside today. Off to pick up a Sam's order, come home & off load it then pick up grocery order. Let's be safe everyone.

Good morning!
I'm definitely moving the weekend of July 4th. The buyer had a VA pre-approved loan so his part is ok. For me, I need a couple of things fixed and need inspection letters. If everything isn't taken care of by July 4th, I plan on giving my realtor power if attorney to sign for me where I don't have to come back.

That's a great idea, Ron. Glad your house sold so quickly.
I was wondering about the shirts and hats, too, Eagle. Glad you let us know. I.bet OKC will use those buses until winter time.
Made my appt. to take the car in at 8:30 in the morning. She said the way the modules are when one goes out, others do, too. It may have been something about the oil. It's been almost six months since the oil change and she says it loses its viscosity. Anyway she said it's okay to drive. She's the Supervisor of the service department. Now I need to make an appt. To get the refrigerator fixed.
Will fill up with gas on the way in.Guess I'll have to.go the long way - still not sure about the roads. Stormy wants to go for a ride so might get gas today.
Later: didn't get the above posted. Stormy and I went up to our little store and filled up with gas and got a small can of diesel for the PU,spilled some of it, of course. Busy little place and lots iof vehicles on the highway, even met two on the way home on the country road. Road is good except half a mile of it going west from our gate. Those weeds/flowers are everywhere along the road north of us. I won't bother them.

There used to be a business in downtown Kansas City that printed T-shirts and sold misprints and overruns for a dollar each. My cousin Dale went around all one summer wearing T-shirts advertising a girls' summer camp in Wisconsin, with the name misspelled. He wasn't a high fashion guy.
It's pleasant today in the shade, 87 degrees with a breeze, but the sun is really hot and bright.
I'm glad your move is going well, Ron. It's a comfort to have family nearby, even when you don't need help, for the company and because you know they'll help you if and when.

Ron— Is the real estate agent someone you know well? I'd be disinclined to give POA to someone I didn't really, really know. You could likely have the contract drawn up before the 4th and sign it or sign it and overnight it for settlement.
Lorita— My car will alert methe check engine light when the oil is down to 15% of it's

And the site is doing its thing again.
Lorita— my check engine light alerts me when the oil reaches 85% of its intended lifespan— either mileage or time.
Very unpleasant here even with moderate humidity. Tomorrow will be worse.
I expected mom's cardiology appointment to be just a perfunctory 6-month check. She's been doing really well and back to a baseline physically of about 5 years ago. Silly me. Things went sideways in one of those appointment cascades.
First, they closed a lane on the already busy detour route to the office which used up every extra minute I'd padded into the schedule. Then mom couldn't understand the tech who checked her in and performed the EKG; the woman did have an accent, but her English was perfect and she projected her voice. I ended up repeating all the instructions.
The doctor asked for an update since the early December visit— that would be 3 hospitalizations with sepsis and pneumonia and new medication. The doctor asked about testing done. He was looking for a transesophageal echo which should have been done. He described it to her. She swore it wasn't done. He saw a note from the January hospitalization that one was canceled. I recalled her having it done and even the meltdown that ensued when staff didn't return her to her room promptly. I did find it in her electronic chart— it was her birthday. Some gift.
Before we left, he asked if she had any new symptoms. She reported tingling hands and numb hands in the morning. This is most likely due to her carpal tunnel and noncompliance with her overnight splints. We go around about this constantly with me threatening not to take her to physicians she ignores. She's even lost one of them. She even tried to tell me she only has the one. Ugh. I distinctly recall 2 as her insurance will not pay for 2 OT appointments on the same day so I had to drive her there twice.
He's ordered her another echo (tomorrow), bloodwork (also tomorrow) and an amyloid scan (next week) which can only be done downtown. At least he didn't add the 24-hour urine test.
It's hot and I'm cranky. Dinner with friends tonight.
Be safe out there.
