    Good morning Rockers.

Judith. Sorry to hear about your dizziness last night. I'm praying for you to have a good day of recovery. Are you alone most of the time? If so, hopefully you have something that will detect a fall. I used to worry about that when I was alone.

Carl. It's good of you to let your son, deal with this in his own way.

Iris. It's nice your able to enjoy your travels. I wish I had a old friend to enjoy a BBQ with, my old friends have all passed. My daughter is BBQing stakes this afternoon. I'm looking forward to that.

JeriLynn, sounds like your have lots of fun travels ahead. Be safe and enjoy.

I remember alot of those old songs, but not until I hear them. And as soon as they come on I can sing right along, and remember most of the words.

I got my hip x-ray back yesterday and it shows no damage. Dr said the pain should stop, soon. I guess it possible to bruise, your bone? We went to yoga yesterday, and sat in the salt room for 45 minutes, I was not to impressed with that. 🤨

Good day to all, Hugs Zetta

Zetta, I'm glad your X-rays were OK. You can bruise bones, and they stay sore longer than skin bruises in my experience. A fall can stir up arthritis too, so if you have any arthritis in the hip it may be sore for a while from that. I've never tried a salt room. I tried a sensory deprivation tank once, in which you float in salt water in the dark, and it was relaxing, but no more so than a nap and a cup of tea.

Judith, was this similar to the dizziness you had a few years ago? Is it better now and what did they give you? UTI with no urgency or burning? Keep your phone with you for sure. I hope Winda is with you.

    Good afternoon.

I wanted to sleep in for a bit, but it just wasn't happening.

Judith— That sounds terrifying. Mom had 2 UTIs 6 months apart about 2 years ago. Not only didn't she have the usual burning and urgency symptoms, but the physical and emotional symptoms she did have were completely different from the other episode. The first she had wicked high BP and was borderline aggressive with me and her PT; the second time her BP was dangerously low and she was so weak I practically carried her into the ED. She rebounded fairly quickly both times once they started treatment.

I took mom out for a couple hours yesterday. I needed to run to Marshall's to find some boxer briefs for DH. I've been culling the worn-out ones as I fold the laundry and was down to only a few pair. I used to buy a specific brand at Costco that they now longer have. I can't switch him to Kirkland as that's what DS wears and I need to be able to tell them apart. He prefers cotton which is getting harder to find— polyester and "performance fabric" have all but taken over. I also found an Apple watch band, a makeup organizer, and a new shower curtain liner. This random haul was positively mundane compared to the Karl Lagerfeld crossbody bag mom bought herself. It's got caricatures of the late designer and his cat on it. So weird.

I made the mistake of telling her Talbots was having a flash sale on shirts, so I had to take her there so she could pick up a couple. I had to talk her out of buying yet another dress. She's got a couple new ones she hasn't worn yet. She buys dresses and then doesn't wear them because she doesn't like how her legs look or because I'm not "dressed up". She's going to the beach with my niece again this August and is planning her wardrobe already. It's a good thing niece is renting a larger car this year as nice drives a Mini. Still, niece has asked me to pack as she's the one who gets stuck hauling the bags.

Hot dogs tonight. I'm really phoning it in of late. Monday and Tuesday will be appointments with mom; still waiting on her blood test results from Tuesday.

Thank you Carl, for the info. On bruising.

I felt like it was a bad bruise, it's not as bad as it was, but it did hurt for about a month. I can't imagine floating in salt water, in the dark. Was it just for the Relaxing effect? The salt room, we sat in comfy chairs, with lights shining through a dimly colored wall, and salt being filtered into the room. Your suppose to relax while the salt clears up any congestion, while taking deep breaths. It's included in our yoga package, so we wanted to give it a try.

Judith. How are you feeling today? I hope your home getting some rest.

    Hugs Zetta

Zetta, it was just to relax and meditate. Sensory deprivation was real popular one year back in the 1980s. I got into a coffin-like thing with water salty enough to float, about 98 degrees F, and they closed the lid. Completely dark, no sound, no smell, no feeling unless you bumped the side of the "coffin." Not for the claustrophobic or people lacking trust in others to open the lid when your time was up. I only did it once. Meditation is good, but driving across town and paying to do it is not terribly relaxing. I have been a caretaker since 1969 and have tried pretty much every stress reliever except illegal drugs and yoga at one time or another.

We're expecting a severe thunderstorm in a few minutes, with 70-80 mph winds. I was out running errands, but came home when I got the alert on my phone. TTYL

Judith, I'm so glad you are all right now! Those silent UTIs are dangerous! I hope the doctor ordered a culture and sensitivity to check for the correct antibiotic. This should take 48 hours to be available.

Are you managing at home okay now?

A quick good morning and check in,

Hello Ron. Are you on your trip to scout for cabins?

Judith! I hope you are better today. How scary that was. Keep your phone in your pocket and stay hydrated. Is someone going to stay with you for a bit? I hope so. You have a fall alert, right?

Lorita, on rats in the engine compartment: DH says there is a device that make a noise that you can get for your car. I'm trying to find one to post a picture here for you.

Zetta, you are correct. A "bone bruise" is a real thing and it takes a while to heal. Hope you continue to improve.

Carl, thank you for the melon info. We have a few raised beds so we can try that next year. I'm with you on cemetery visits. I drive right by my parents/grandparents/late husband's grave several times a week and can see the headstones in the country cemetery from the road. I always look to see if the floral arrangements are in place but only go there to tend the graves and visit on "special" days. Some people need to go more often and if that is comfort, so be it. You are a kind and loving father.

HB, I just had to retire a pair of pants yesterday because, alas, they no longer fit. They were a black/white Zebra print from Talbots. I thought of you and your Mama. Before DH I had grieved myself into a size 2 or 4. He cured that, unfortunately.

Beth, I'm reading alot about "chaos gardening". I didn't know that term but it describes perfectly what I want for the backyard with that hideous above ground pool. DH has been so slow to get the deck completed, I haven't planted anything around it. My plan is to line the entire thing with zinnias, coneflowers, other wildflowers so that I cannot see the exterior of the pool. Flowers up to the (at least) level of the deck, make pathways around it and line the fencerows with beds. That way all I see is flowers and when I lift my eyes I see the fields surrounding the backyard. I may have to hire some help.

GG: YES to Dark Shadows!!!! Every afternoon at 3:30. I was a "latchkey" kid so I had a blissful 30 minutes of entertainment before I had to begin getting dinner ready.

Iris, my friend from high school visits next month. I haven't seen her since they moved away in 11th grade. I'm so excited!

OK, I hear DH stirring in the kitchen so time to go. TTYL. Stay safe!

    G'mornin.

Iris— Thank bank teller joke sounds like one Carl would have come up with. 😉

Carl— I rarely stop at dad's grave or the closet where mom keeps my sister's ashes (behind her 12-month-supply of Crepe Erase). I do sometimes take mom; I have to offer, she never asks.

She admitted she doesn't really know what to say or do when she goes. It's a National Cemetery, so it's not like one can tend plants there. Once when I took her on his birthday (July 5— so very warm), she was talking to him about her cat and the grandkids and then she patted the headstone and said, "Is it hot where you are?" Given dad's personality and behavior, the pair of us burst out laughing. We're weird.

Lorita— A friend who lives in the city had the rat electrical system issue with her DH's minivan. She lives near a huge park and the agricultural high school; plus, her DH liked to feed the squirrels. After the second harness was installed in a year, their insurance agent advised them that the peanuts and birdseed they were putting out was an "attractive nuisance" and that they would not be paying out a third time if these were not removed and an exterminator used. In her case, the work was covered under the comprehensive damage portion of their car insurance.

Hard to believe it's already the final day of June and you'll be starting #208 soon.

Judith— I hope you're feeling better today.

Jerilynn— RIP the zebra pants. Mom must've missed those although she does have both the zebra and the leopard loafers. Because she's fancy.

Ron— My mom would drive by that cabin and tell me it "has possibilities". She spends entirely too much time watching HGTV. I blame her doctors and their waiting room TVs. Would you consider building? The are some cute prefab and kit ADUs and log cabins at this site.

It kind of makes me want one. Or maybe 2— one for DS so he stops messing up my space. I shouldn't complain, he's mowing at the moment, and I am not, so there's that.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

It's bright and warm here today. Mom has her AMD injections later. The office is busier than ever as more folks get approved for the medication which is awesome, but it means a crowded waiting room and a process that takes longer than when Syfovre was first rolled out. Unlike a lot of waiting rooms, the TVs here are set to Gilligan's Island and Hallmark Channel without audio. Not that either really make sense with dialog but they're wildly amusing anyway. Since we go back for tests and then wait for the next test and finally the injection, we're catching snippets of at least 2 episodes not that this lack on continuity matters from an entertainment standpoint. I don't anticipate getting home any earlier than 5:30 so it'll be take-out pizza for the win!

Tomorrow is the amyloid scan. It's not until 11:45, but we'll need to take the 9:28 train to get down to the city with enough time to uber or taxi over to the hospital. I prefer not to drive as there's a whole lot of construction in that area and detours in place currently. I still haven't seen the results of the amyloid blood tests; I don't know if they didn't get ordered after all or if they weren't done. I guess we'll reach out after the scan results are in.

I get to see the hand surgeon on Thursday. I'm hoping to graduate to OT. The wrist feels mostly better, but the arthritis remains, and I suspect there's a risk of recurrence. If given a choice, I'd prefer not to have my arm splinted for another 6 weeks post-surgery (it's hot), so I'll kick that can down the road.

I hope everyone has a peaceful day.

    HB

    Good morning.

Judith, are you able to get up and around today?

JeriLynn, have you been talking with your high school friend over the years? I sincerely hope you will enjoy your visit with her and catching up.

Ron, it seems that you're going for the rustic look. At least get indoor plumbing! 😄

HB, I hope your mom get good results from her amyloidosis testing.

Carl— Accessory Dwelling Unit. They're meant to be built in one's back yard as a kind of "granny flat". I have room for one, but alas the HOA bans them. I can't even have a wooden shed. Grrr.

Woo-hoo— the dentist's office finally called back. The appointment I've been trying to reschedule for tomorrow is done. It only took 6 days to get a call-back. Our former dentist sold his practice to a new guy with the intention to work PT doing only dentistry— none of the business or logistics of maintaining a practice. Something happened and it didn't work as planned. Now the old guy is working PT out of some other semi-retired dentist's office space in his own little practice having taken some of the staff (wife, daughter and a hygienist) from the previous practice. We'd bought into the annual loyalty plan that gives routine care/discount and had appointments left so we're still in the old office. Mom wanted to stay with the previous guy so I get to see him, DH and I are undecided as previous gut is 70-ish and DS will be staying with the new guy. It's all so awkward as if seeing the dentist wasn't unpleasant enough.

    Good morning……….

I'm glad the storms weren't worse for you Carl. Although trees down doesn't sound good either.

Ron you cabin has 'personality!' Whoever said it is correct. On HGTV someone would get that, add on here and there, and boom have a beautiful cabin. All in 30 minutes!!

HB you've got a busy day. Your dentist office sounds like what we've just gone through. Our dentist, whom we love, really decided she just couldn't do it any longer. (Covid, HD cancer scare, burst pipe in the office then her mother passing) and I think she just thought there was more to life than teeth. So she retired rather abruptly at 63. She sold her practice & I like the new dentist, now that we're used to her. I'm very concerned though because its not busy at all. It was a booming business and now, not so much.

Time to get busy. Let's be safe everyone.

Morning, Ron, that cabin looks really lived in. A fixer upper for sure. What about one of those tiny houses?.

Comprehensive covers rodent damage? I checked and our insurance does but I have a thousand dollar deductible. Shouldn't be that much. Maybe I should lower the deductible for comp. Thanks for mentioning that, HB.

Mint, we canned loads of green beans when I was growing up and then I didn't like them but I do now - same with English peas.

I think I just heard thunder!! Some places north of us had up to 5" of rain last night. It's been rather nice this morning. The GPs stayed out for a couple of hours and didn't get too hot. I need to go out and tackle getting those shutters up, if I can find something to stand on. I need to be 5'9" instead of 5'6".

This morning I happened to be at the door when the girls were going to the shades. We have five huge Hack berry trees north of the barn that provides shade for them. The moms were ahead of four tiny babies who began running like the wind with tails up in the air. They caught up with their moms and ran past them, then to put in the feecercame back. I love to see them.playing like that. I told Darwin and he said he can just stand and watch them.play. Mike once told me if he's driving and sees them.playing and running, he stops and watches. It is so cute.

Judith, I hope you're okay today. Let us know.

HB, hope the wait isn't too long and tests cone out okay.

Carl, there is no way on earth I could do something like that- too claustrophobic and.not trusting enough. Zetta, I wouldn't enjoy what you did either. Do you think the yoga is helping your balance and making you feel better?

Gotta go I made more hummingbird food this morning and it should be cool enough to put in the feeder

Calves are cute. My grandfather had a Jersey calf that looked a lot like Allison, the prettiest girl in my 10th grade Geometry class, so I named the calf Allison. Grandpa suggested I not share the thought with the human Allison, and I never did.

    Good morning Front Porch Friends.

Ron. I love your cabin, looks like all it needs is some new curtains.

HB. I would love to have to take a train places. How long is the ride to the city. I would love to be able to take amtrac from Arizona to Oregon, but it is a 12 hour trip, and you can only take your dog 🐕 on the train for 7 hours. I won't go anywhere without my little Molly. I agree your son should see the younger dentist. It's hard the change Dentist, when your comfortable with one. I liked your idea of having hot dogs, that's going to be our 4th of July, dinner.

Carl. I'm glad the storm passed by you and did not cause any damage. I don't think I could ever go in a coffin like box, completely dark and quiet and float around for a hour. In that case the hour would seem like a very very very long time.

JeriLynn. Thank you for confirming a bone can be bruise. The doctor said so many things, it seems like he may have said that. My pain has gone away, probably because I have been taking the extra strength pain pills. Have fun with your high school friend. That is something to really look forward to.

Good day to all. Hugs Zetta

I just remembered- thinking about being in that coffin like box, c!osed up,- years ago we got a Sleep Number bed. Charles and I put it together so I knew what was beneath the mattress- coffin like boxes. We tried it for a few weeks and sent it back. It leaked air which they said they could fix but the fact we were sleeping on those boxes would not go out of my.mind.

Very dark but now with a light rain but most of it is south of us. Didn't get out to the barn. Later this week for sure. I think the youngest babies are ok to be in the barn with the others.

Lorita - Now that I have a couple of song names - I know Wake Up Little Susie and Dream. My mom used to sing Wake Up Little Susie to me and Peggy if we were having a hard time getting up for school. 🙂

Iris - I was pretty sure it was Medi-Cal. but wasn't a 100% on it. All of your trips sound exciting.

Judith - That's scary! I really hope you're starting to feel better.

Carl - Surprising absolutely no one, I love sensory deprivation tanks. SO relaxing. It's probably going to sound weird, but I love the feeling of nothing, that feeling of where does your body end and the water begin. And it's so quiet. I imagine it's what a full body massage feels like. I used the tanks about once a week while I was studying for the bar exam. It helped a lot with stress.

JeriLynn - I had a similar experience with clothes. I was always right around a size 3 - size 2 wasn't going to happen. Then I met my s.o. Of course I never ate anything because I didn't like most things. His common refrain was "I bet I could make it so that you'd like it." I was skeptical, but that man can cook! I'm no longer a size 3, but the gym keeps me in the single digits.

We were all latchkey kids too. We were lucky in that my grandparents and my aunt lived next door to us all through our elementary school years, so we'd often go over to their house and watch Dark Shadows with our aunt. She taught 4th grade and so was home by then.

Out of curiosity Peggy and I actually went to a Dark Shadows festival back in the '90s. It was odd, but kind of fun. We got to meet various members of the cast, including Angelique - so scary on the show, but very nice in real life.

HB - I loved the "is it hot where you are?" That was good.

I'm pretty sure I can't get away with zebra pants, although I like the idea of them.

Zetta - Hi! I've taken the train from Seattle to San Francisco - very pretty route, but close to a 24 hour trip, so unfortunately a no go for Molly.

As for here? A perfect PNW summer day - 80 degrees and lots of sun.

Our dryer had issues over the weekend, air would flow through, but there was no heat what so ever. The repair guy just left, and thankfully it was a no big deal kind of fix. It's in the outside realm of something we can do ourselves, so if it happens again, we might be able to fix it without having to call someone.

GG, I'm not surprised you love sensory deprivation tanks, but I am surprised you've never had a full body massage. Nothing that we can discuss in mixed company is more relaxing to me than a full body massage.

I called Judith's cellphone but it said she wasn't taking csalls. I left a message asking her to post but I see she hasn't yet. Maybe she was sleeping.

I have found the best hairbrush I have ever had. I have long hair and when I'm home I pull it on top of my head, give it one twist and put on a clip, the rest hangs down. When I take off the clip it always seems to be tangled and brushing it kind of pulls and there's hair in the brush. I saw the brushes on QVC, where else? And ordered them. The name is Calista Smoothie. No pulling and very little hair in brush. It was a set of three so will give one to Donna. Took me 83 years but I found it!!

Lots.of rain one or two counties south of us but doubt it will get here. I understand someone West of us has been able to bale some hay. Good for him.

Not sure about the road conditions I like to travel to town so guess I won't try it tomorrow. I'll begin 208 before I go to sleep.
