I am so sorry you have needed to find your way here. How old is your DW and do you have your DPOA documents in place yet?

Did the hospital offer options other than going home?

@lenpet457. Not to be nosy, but did your wife already have a diagnosis of schizophrenia? There is a type of dementia - Lewy Body - which has hallucinations as a key symptom. You can search youtube for Tam Cummings, Teepa Snow, Dementia Careblazer videos for the different types of dementia and tools to help manage symptoms. This forum is also an amazing resource for guidance. We are sad you need to be here but glad you found us.

so sorry you are going through this. Is your DW on anti-psychotic meds? If not she should be. Ask for a referral to a Geriatric Psychiatrist who is best able to manage those meds. If you feel like you are in danger, call 911 and have her taken back to the hospital. While there, ask for the Geriatric Psychiatrist doctor and demand meds. Have you considered a Memory Care facility? The Alzheimer’s Org has a toll free number you can call to see what resources are in your area. It’s listed at the top of the main page.
