thanks very much my head knows it’s the right decision and as long as Insurance lasts I have no intention of having him come back except for holidays and such. I’m just so worried about how he will react sleeping in new bed etc.

I was advised not to bring my DH back to our apartment for anything. He asks to come home a lot, and if I brought him here, it would just make it harder. Be sure to ask the staff working with him what they think about that. My DH is now in a wheelchair and doesn't leave the facility at all. Family has to come to him. I took him to his daughter's house a few times before he had to be in the wheelchair, and was very uneasy and asking to leave after just a short time. He now has his comfort zone and we don't leave it. My DH never said a word about being in a different bed, but everyone is different. Good luck and stay strong!

thx. Yes I’m going to see what faculty says about taking him home. My plan was for thanksgiving but that’s only if he can handle it.

Thanksgiving may be too soon. And it may be a challenge if you have guests as well. How would you handle it if he was resistant to returning to the facility once he was home for a few hours?

MCFs will typically host a friends & family celebration around any major holidays. Dad's had some kind of festivity every month. They're usually a few days prior.

I brought my mother to MC while they were serving lunch. She was happy to eat while I unpacked her stuff and brought it to her room. I left while she was still eating.
