Ray and his friend just delivered my hay. Left one bale in the back of the PU for me and the other 14 in the crib. The only time I use hay is when someone is up. Had one left from the hay I bought from him a couple of years ago. He is about the only one I know of who bales square bales anymore. All the girls came up thinking they were going to be fed. They have been doing that all day every time they hear a truck. I put Billy in one part of the lot until they left. just doesn't want to go out in the pasture and that's ok.
Did learn that AFR does cover rodent damage if you have comprehensive. I think it may have been HB who told me about that not long ago. Thanks.

JeriLynn, did you all get your electric fence up?. Are you using a solar powered charger? That's what we always used when the fence was away from near the house. Are you brave enough to check if the fence is charged using your hand? I have done that a couple of times but it was scary. We finally got one of those things that would check it without touching it. I think the longest one we ever put up was about half a mile. Is it around a pasture for the goats? Any new babies?

Lorita, we got all the wire pulled and the insulators on the posts and will mount the solar box tomorrow. It’s supposed to hold a charge for 10 days of cloudy weather. We enclosed 11 acres of goat/dog pasture. I won’t be touching the fence, lol. We have a tester.
DH did say I was the prettiest little wire puller he’s ever seen ❤️.
No babies. We’re moving Black Star Billy Goat out to the pasture with the Mamas and moving the young ones up to the front pasture until next year. (Great Granddaughter named the Billy when he was born, her name is Onyx). We should have some babies in April/May. He’s a handsome guy with just a touch of dapple gray in his coat. I’m hoping for GG and Brahma Mama to spend some time with him. I think they will produce some beautiful babies and both those girls are really good Mothers.
I had packs of crackers tucked in my pockets so everyone followed me for snacks while we worked, 😂0 -
That was a sweet thing for.him to say and I bet it's true. How did you pull the wire- with a comealong? We used short, fairly lightweight t-posts. What did you use? You will sleep well tonight.
We have babies all over the place and they are so cute They can run like the wind, even see a few little pushing matches. Cattle are really.up now, probably the highest I have ever seen. All the girls came up when they brought the hay and Ray said done small calf standing by the fence would bring $1000. Maybe I sold too soon.
I'm already sleepy so will say Good night, sleep tight.

All I got done today was to vote. And I went for my walk. I seem to be moving slowly about my day, not much is getting done.

Lorita, DH had the roll of wire rigged on the back of the side by side but I just walked the wire off down the fence row. We put insulators on the wooden corner posts and those plastic extender ones on the T-posts. The wire was easy to pull. When we did the fence, we pulled wire using the side by side with the barbed wire hooked on the back and let it do the work.
The pair of Great Blue Herons were circling us yesterday. Sometimes they stay for the winter. I'm hoping they stay this year.
DH was all up in an online auction yesterday. He didn't get the tractor he was watching (I was secretly happy) but he did get some other things. Not sure what all but I guess we'll be going over to pick up some stuff. I do know he got a Radio Flyer wagon. Probably thinking Christmas for the 4-year-old greatgrand to pull behind his little 4-wheeler. He's so cute on that thing.
Oliver Kitty is chuffing at me, so I guess he's ready for his second course of breakfast. I'll get up from here now and get busy.
Y'all have a good day and be safe. Ron, hope you are feeling better.

Morning, I can't seem to get out of bed this morning. Guess I'm dreading having to real with the car thing. But I have to. Even after it is fixed and back home, how do I prevent it from happening again unless I could park it in a big bubble of something. You all take it easy today.

They're picked up my car just before 4 . The driver said another driver had been at our driveway two ok r three hours earlier but was afraid to come up the drive thinking he might not be able to turn around. Because of the trees the house can't be seen from the road. He couldn't jump it either but there is power because things work.
He told me what they use at the wrecker yard to kill rats so I will.order that. It is Tom Cat green squares that smell like peppermint. They had big rats and used that and no longer have them.
The Beaver Super Moon is gorgeous. Quite a bit farther north than last night.
Heard something I didn't like to hear. They have begun to build a4500 acre solar farm beginning about a mile from us extending about five miles north; 3 miles wide and five miles long. Also a 450 acre Google data center. The news is just reporting there are plans to put in a big data center in east Tulsa. People are not wanting it. I don't want the one near us either. Ray said most peopl e are leasing but some are selling. I really hate to have that happen to pretty farm and ranch land but money talks. Gary told me someone who lives near him sold their land for twenty million.
Been a stressful day so I may retire early tonight. Already dark. dark here. Sleep well, good night.

Carl, it’s been several days since I’ve been out and did finally see results, which looks like other problems on top of what I already have. With that said, there is two days that I’ve decided come hell or high water I’m going to make. Maybe it’s something I’ve been looking for since the greeting I received coming back from Vietnam Aug of 66; the first day is the veteran celebration at the senior center and the second day is next Tuesday a celebration for Veterans at my grandson’s school.
hope to see you Friday!Ron

Wide awake. Nothing on tv right now either. Local news will be on on 45 minutes. I'm hungry but don't want to disturb the cats so will try to get back to sleep.

Sometimes in these wee hours a cup of tea and listening to the BBC overnight on our local NPR station can help me relax in that the stories are sometimes so much different than our news which can make me worry instead of relax.

Good morning,
Pulmonary appointment this morning, had my coffee, now to see about shaving and cleaning up.
xray of my neck showed; “calcified atherosclerosis suspected in carotid system greater on left”. Positive news is it says “suspected “, not confirmed. It is what it is!If I’m able to make my appointment this morning without falling or having to much pain, I will be going to the Veterans celebration tomorrow.
The weather that is coming this weekend will be this southern boy’s first taste of Missouri weather.

Good morning!

First it is Walmart that destroys local businesses then the solar farms take up the farm and ranch land…all in the name of progress…sigh

Good morning. I'm off to a day trip with the seniors to Japan House to see an exhibit on how food replicas are made for restaurants.

Have fun, Iris. Judith, WM has messed up our little town.. Ran both grocery stores out of business so now they have it all. I really hate that all of that pretty, rich land is going to be covered with solar panels. It says that and the data center will employ over 1000 people. Where are they going to live? Maybe our little town of under 200:people will boom. I would rather have the pretty farm and range land and peace and quiet. Progress is not always good.
When I went out this morning Billy was standing by the pasture gate. I fed him and left the gate open. Just looked and saw him going down to the girls. Told him to come back tomorrow for feed. He seems to be walking without a limp. I worry about the baby with pinkeye and the others. Mike said one of the guys would be in this area yesterday or day before but they weren't. Baby needs some medicine. I know his eye hurts.
Doing laundry and donations. Already got the dishes done. Maybe an afternoon nap but do need to check on car.

We made it mostly on time to Charleston. My s.o.'s mom seems fairly fine, her dementia seems to be in a holding pattern, which is good. She's pretty happy to see us. We'll see what happens to us on the way back. We're due to fly back on Monday, but the Seattle airport is one of the airports that is scheduled to have a 10% flight reduction. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Iris - There's a part of me that still regards L.A. as home, and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for it. And yeah, so many interesting things to do there. I'll be interested to hear about how food replicas are made. Hopefully there will be photos. 🙂
We voted as well the other day. Washington state is all vote by mail (they even pay for the postage!), so all we have to do is mail out the ballots. Very convenient.
HB - I have a pair of L.L. Bean "wicked good" slippers. I've had them for eons! So, well made, comfy and warm = a big win in my books.
Carl - It took me a couple of minutes to figure out B&G.
Lorita - I'm crossing my fingers for Billy. And here's hoping that your rodent problem gets resolved soon.
There were too many clouds (and rain) for us to see the Beaver moon, but when we were flying into Charleston yesterday evening, we watched the almost full moon rise. It was pretty spectacular.

Really pretty picture.
Judith I'm not going that way, yet. The cubes are poison, just a peppermint smell. I ordered a couple of live catch traps. If a rat ate the poison and somehow made it into the yard the GPs might find it. If it ate the poison and died in the car, just think of the smell -would be worse than Grandpa Gus. Darwin will help me with the traps. I have never set a trap and for sure could not do something with a live rodent in one. Looked out a while ago and Billy was laying down in the lot. He got up and is eating hay now.

Good afternoon.
Mint— I hope your nephew did well on his test. Is the course hands on or more classroom time? I find DS, and other ADHDers I know learn best by doing.
Lorita— I'm sorry. It really does seem like one more thing on top of the rest of it all daily for you of late.
The data center situation can impact local quality of life for current residents. They make a lot of noise and draw huge amounts of power that often raise utility rates for the surrounding area.
Iris— Any day you get a walk in is a productive day in my book.
Jerilynn— That's a lot of fencing. Your tester sounds like a great idea. One year I camped with the scouts at Assateague National Seashore which has the famous wild ponies. There are electric fences to keep the ponies off the dunes which are a breeding ground for piping plovers as well as protection for the island. The scouts formed a human chain to the fence and took turns breaking the chain to shock each other. Hours of fun I'm told. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid boys in groups can be.
Ron— I hope you had a good appointment with your pulmonologist and can enjoy the two veteran celebrations. I rode by the National Cemetery here and there were hundreds of small flags along with fencing. It was very pretty.
Goodlife— DH watches/listens to BBC. He always comments about the stories covered being so different than what the U.S. media covers. It makes for a more well rounded outlook.
Gothic G— I'm glad you made it to Charleston without too much bother. I hope it's the same on Monday. It's great MIL is doing well.

Crazy day. Mom called at 8:30. She'd 1) run out of medication and 2) missed a call from her infectious disease specialist. He'd left a voice mail, but the transcription was poor and and she had the sound turned down and couldn't hear him.
I liaised with his office who said it was probably about a need to change her January appointment. He's semi-retiring and they offered a different doctor, so I fixed that. Turns out his call was about where to send a refill and when she didn't answer, he said he'd look around. What?
I touched base with the pharmacy which was waiting for the delivery of one of her pricier meds and a callback from cardiology for a refill. They had enough to make a week of pill packets, so I drove to the pharmacy and dropped them off. They'll deliver the rest tomorrow or Saturday.
Made it back by noon. DH wanted to go to Home Depot to look at mailboxes. Since we painted, the mailbox looks really shabby. I told him we'd have to order online if he wanted a house number on it and that I could show him examples in the neighborhood, but he wanted to go to the store. Half and hour drive and they had pictures of the 2 mailboxes on the next street. What a waste of the day. We drove by the mailboxes so he could pick.

I think peppermint scent is the deterrent…the mice/rats do not eat. The Tomcat is strictly a poison.
