The pain of living with ALZ

The first time my DH asked “who are you” my knees buckled under me, I dissolved into tears and I was sure my world had collapsed. Everyone is different but after a lot of garble words through tears, things like “I am your wife”, “we’ve been married for 53 years” etc etc my DH just moved on and accepted who I said I was, I moved on too and talked about how much I loved him and his mum and dad and how and when we got married. All very familiar stuff. I eventually accepted it as just another step in this horrible and hideous disease. It doesn’t make it any easier to accept or understand nor does it take the pain away. Stay on this forum read and ask questions and tell your of journey it all helps.

So sorry you too have experienced this moment. It is and was for me the hardest moment in this journey for sure and the one you don’t forget. So hard to believe it has robbed my DH of any memory of our wonderful life and love for each other.
