Still not asleep, but soon. We have usually short spells of really cold weather. Supposed to be back in the 60s by Tuesday.. Occasionally we do have long periods with very cold weather and snow. Where do you Iive that it is still warm?

Lorita, an ad for a mouse deterrent popped up when I was on YouTube. It is called Vamoose by BugMD. It is composed of essential oils. You might search for it and read the reviews. The ad mentioned that moth balls and dryer sheets don't work.
I was home most of the day. Temp was about 68 today. I didn't go for my walk. I'm going to take a break for a few days.
Good night.

Ron - that's a very sweet photo of you and Lou. So much love …
HB - I've seen photos of drive-throus for shots, but I've never participated in one. It's kind of odd when you think about it because I've always lived in medium to large cities.
Rocky Horror - Yes - I always had my "bag of tricks" with me. I drew the line at hot dogs though. I was not going to throw hot dogs at the screen. 😄
Lorita - my workouts sound tiring to me! But I'm glad I can do them for now.
Carl - What a wonderful thing to do - give Kathy's embroidery tools and threads to someone who will make good use of them.
One of the ladies brushing crumbs off of your thigh? That's a little —- forward. I'd say yes, you need backup!
Iris - Thanks for asking about the flooding. We're okay where we are, but 20 minutes away it's another story. Also, I was going to visit my bestie a few days ago, but the road in between us is now unsafe, so I'm going to wait.
Your marionette outing looks really fun!! You got some great photos.
And yes - I love Cost Plus! It's one of my 'go-to' places.
Zetta - I'm so glad all of you are doing better! It sounds like you were all down for the count. I didn't know that as we get older we're in danger of seizures with high fevers. Very good to know. I hope you're all still getting a lot of rest.
All of you with the snow - I'm feelin' ya. Stay safe and warm. We've been somewhat lucky. Even though it's been monsooning outside, it's not terribly cold. It's been in the low 50s during the day and the low 40s at night. Way better than the 20s in my books.
Sandwichone - I'd take your 60 degree weather! I'm absolutely, 100% okay with warm weather at Christmas. 🙂
I spent almost two hours on the phone with Peggy's friend D today (part of Team Peggy). She's a talker, that one. But - she told me she fell and broke her wrist and her arm!! She felt really embarrassed by it - she sprayed air freshener in the room, and it all settled on her hard wood floors so when she got up to walk across the room, the floors were slick, and down she went. She has a walker and a cane and wasn't using either of them. This is one of the reasons I always wear grippy shoes, or socks with little grippy things on the soles. I know I'd go down too in that situation.

Good morning!
3:52am and 11 degrees, feels like -1. Even had a little snow at 10:30, but not enough to tell this morning.
Coffee time!

Good morning. We got a wintry mix overnight and now have heavy snow. It should wrap up in a couple hours so hopefully roads will be OK by the time DS needs to head out at 1pm.
Lady Z— I'm sorry to hear you and your family were down with the flu. From what I read, the vaccine wasn't a great match for the dominant strain which is said to be "a doozy". I hope you're soon on the mend.
Ron— It can be frustrating to have to wait to see a specialist when you'll dealing with chronic pain. That said, Feb 3rd is my surgery date. I guess time is a matter of perspective. When I made it 2 months ago, it seemed far off but now— it feels like I barely have time to do all the things I need to do beforehand.
Carl— I do recall the bench seats of my youth. Certain guys would take turns too hard causing one to slide all but in their laps.
Lorita— I hope you have success with the cat's pills.
Beth— Did you make it to the cemetery for the wreaths? The National Cemetery where my dad's ashes are buried participates in WAA. The first year they were open, DS's scout troop unpacked, attached bows and stacked them ahead of the ceremony. In earlier times, when it was a smaller event, they helped with the distribution but now it's a logistical nightmare. Mom wanted to make sure he'd have a wreath, so I drove by on Friday when they were dropping off pallets of wreaths in each section. The cemetery looks beautiful when they're all placed.
Gothic G— Maybe it makes sense that cities don't do drive-thrus— they require cars and a lot of space. The 2 we did that way were in the parking lot of a large high school and the local community college.
Your poor friend. Ugh. I always hate "that" question at any doctor appointment— you know the old "have you had any falls?"
I draw a limit at hot dogs as well. The first couple of time I saw Rocky Horror it was a live performance so that could have been considered assault.
Judith— Is Leonardo streaming?

I stayed home and got another tree up along with the outdoor lights. Nothing crazy— just a few strings in the shrubs in the front of the house. DS likes when the house is lit when he comes home at night. My neighbor had her crew out yesterday as well. Three landscapers who hang lights, baubles and assemble free standing displays. Last year she even played music. I love it. I have a perfect view from my chair at dinner.
I suppose I'll need to shovel later as the temps are supposed to drop even further. I hope they're clean in time for me to pick up some deli meat or DS will be stuck with a PB&J for his dinner.
I hope all have a pleasant day.

Good morning
we got 3-4 inches of snow late yesterday evening. I got out and shoveled it early so I can go to church. I would have used the snowblower but didn't want to wake neighbors up. Took me about an hour probably could’ve done it in 20 minutes with the
Beth I feel for you. Any day that is warm is good by me too.HB hope the roads are nice and clear by one for your son. My roads looked fine. I think I can get around OK. I’m gonna head out in a little bit.
Take care

Yikes!
Now that it's light enough to see well, we have about 6" of snow and it's still coming down. A few days ago, they were forecasting 1-3" then yesterday afternoon, it changed to <1" of wintry mix. The entire time, my weather app is telling me it's sleeting with a total accumulation of 1.14". Yeah, no.0 -
Wreaths across America here was postponed until next Saturday due to weather. -5 this morning, snow as stopped, sidewalks and driveways are cleared. We did that yesterday.

Morning, pill giving for the cats went ok this time. But, getting the GPs to take their cheese wrapped pain pills not so well. Finally just opened Sheena'.s mouth and put it in.
Very cold this morning. Let Sheena out and went back ten minutes later and couldn't find her. Got my coat on and went out to find her laying by the house. She got up and kind of wandered toward the porch. We may be having trouble seeing.
Ron, I love the picture of you and Lou. I bet you all danced a lot.
Iris, I will check on Vamoose. Thanks for the tip. The Guys at the dealership said Irish spring soap wedged under the PU hood would work. I have two bars under the hood and the rat is eating one of them. Haven't checked the other one- it may be gone.
Better stop and feed the birds. Eagle, Chiefs at noon!!

Good morning.
I wish for all of you with snow, flooding or cold to stay warm and dry and don't fall!
Lorita, I'm glad you got the medications into the animals. I have dealt with two blind cats, I had to keep them confined to a small area. They seemed to be able to navigate a bit by feel and by smell.

Gothic, spoken like a true Californian. I'm in Albuquerque, so high desert. We're used to mild winters, but usually winter arrives!

Zero wind here.

Finally made it up to.31. Has been a beautiful day but very cold.
Iris, what we do for our little companions and they are worth every bit of it.

Just wanted to make you jealous. Last week, we had our first day of 100+ this summer , and it looks like Thursday will be a repeat. Christmas in Australia! Cheers to all! Barbara

I participated some years age with Wreaths but stopped when I realized that not every veteran was acknowledged.

Winter here, summer down under! Small world!
The missionary lady across the street came by yesterday to give me a plate of M&M cookies and invite me to her church. She does this every few months. I can tell she knows I'm not going to go to her church, but she invites me anyway. She also says she'll help me if I call, and I believe she would (she's a generation younger than I am). She and her husband were missionaries to Alcatraz Prison and to Africa, and her daughter and SIL are in Africa now as missionaries, with their baby, 8,000 miles away. Her husband is the neighbor who had a heart attack last winter operating a snow blower and got stents in his coronary arteries. I'm glad the doctors could help him, they're nice people.
HB, I remember making those hard right turns in the days before consoles and seat belts. We called it COD, which stood for "Coming Over, Dear." I also remember the girl in Journalism class who thought my thigh was a good place to clean the typewriter ribbon black from her hands. We haven't changed much in 60 years, have we?
Sleep warm, friends.

I'm watching:Avatar:The Way Of Watrr. I don't think it's as good as he first one. I understand there's another one coming out before long. How they make those movies I will never know.
Barbara, I don't envy the 100 degree days and don't like zero ones either but we take what we are given. I feel like you can put on more layers if it's cold but can only take off so much when it's really hot (unless you live in the country , Judith. I don't do that because you never know who might drive up.
Sandwich, welcome to the porch. I think you have posted before. I like your city, especially Old Town. We have been there a couple of times, years ago and really enjoyed it. Good to have people from different States so we can learn about them.
Carl, you must be a charmer - better be careful. You said you heard Kathy call your name from another room. The morning after Charles passed away I was getting dressed to go to the cemetery and I heard him call me from the LR. At that moment me was here with me. His voice was as plain as it ever was. He called me honey 99% of the time just as he did that morning. Is that the only time you have beard Kathy call you?
Heard a while ago that Dick Van DELETED is 100 years old!!
Everyone, stay warm tonight or as in Barbara's case, stay cool. Good night.

Good morning
Carl, I’m thinking I might grow a beard and see if women will start throwing their selves at me like they do you. My son told me I’m in Missouri now and a beard will help keep my face warm. Never have had one, did have a Colonel Sanders look one time, but it didn’t help me get free chicken so shaved it off.
Son made a big pot of stew last night and of course I overate. 21 degrees and feels like 9 at 3am.
Still having problems with nerve pain, last night for the first time I had pins and needles hit my left chest. After falling last year it started with right neck pain; after therapy and shots it moved to the left, then my shoulder, down left arm and now chest. I sent a secure letter in the VA portal to my primary care for suggestions since it’s January and February before I’m able to see specialist.

Good morning.
It's still unseasonably cold and dark here.
Barbara— 100+F is a little too warm.
Judith— My mom generally covers the cost of a wreath for dad and a plus one through WAA. I tend to support more practical initiatives.
Carl— I didn't realize the maneuver had a name.
Lorita— You just got snared by the site's censor. It never gets old.
Happy 100th Dick Van DELETED.
_____________________________________________________________________________DS and I cleared off the cars and shoveled. Normally, if shovelable snow is forecasted, we park my car behind DS's to allow easy access to the garage and snowblower. Since we'd have to dig out the car and clear off an area to get blower out having not done that, it was just as easy to do it old-school. It was powdery and easily scraped here. My bestie in the city had fewer inches, but it was warmer there and heavier snow.
She and I had a disagreement over shoveling. She gave me a hard time for being out shoveling with my bad knee. I replied "DELETED, please! You're the one who had the heart attack this year!"
It was pretty.I hope all have a pleasant day. HB

Morning, HB, the picture is beautiful.. I love snow scenes. What's this with the word "deleted". I typed his name, and deleted showed up so I deleted the word deleted. Just now it was there again, then disappeared.
0 -
Lorita, the word DELETED has sexual connotations when spelled with a Y. Whoever set up the censor gave it a list of naughty words, and that one is on it. I'm glad the poor man's first name isn't deleted also, or we would have to call him Richard Van DELETED.
0 -
Well, apparently the word that means the structure into which Hans Brinker stuck his thumb to prevent a flood is also forbidden when spelled with an I. How prudish can we get?
0 -
I'm just shaking my head, at that. I'm with you Carl, prudish.
We attended a surprise 65th birthday party for my bestie. It was wonderful. She was clueless, which was even better. Her favorite aunt/uncle flew in from N.C., a cousin she's very close with from Utah and her brother & SIL from Virginia. Then a nice handful of very close friends. It truly was nice. What touched me was when her husband went to make a toast and got choked up with tears in his eyes - he loves her so. It made the holiday for me.
Lorita our poor Chiefs. And Patrick is now out hurt. I'm betting he'll be in Dallas for his surgery. Numerous professional sport people come here to a place called The Cooper Clinic to have surgery. He'll be back next year, I have no doubt.
Iris your trip looked fun. Thanks for posting pictures.
Let's be safe everyone. No snow or ice here, just very chilly.
0 -
Good morning.
It was only 68 degrees yesterday, probably due to the morning fog. The sky is overcast today.
HB, the snow picture is lovely! It reminds me of my life back east. But I am so pleased with my snowless life here in SoCal.
I don't think the deletion is due to prudishness, but due to political correctness, because some people believe the word could be used as a slur against a certain type of person.
Eaglemom, your friend's surprise party sounds nice, I'm glad it came off so well.
A picture of the latest feral kitten, about 6 months old now. The other litter mate vanished at about 3 months. Aside from feeding, no one is taking care of these cats.

Where did you all see that list? I once had a.boss who would say someone strained at a knat and swallowed an elephant. I think this qualifies. Guess we have to be careful what we write.
Eagle, it.hurt when Mahomes hyper extended his knee. I did that.playing softball and it swelled double its size in a few minutes. He will be back next year and maybe Kelse will have settled down by then and have his mind.back on football.
Ron, I kind of Iike a.beard. Every fall Charles would grow one and it looked nice. He said it did keep his face warmer.
It's 26 right now and windy so it is cold. The little birds were ready for their feed. Saw one beautiful red cardinal.
THe driveway alarm keeps going off and is driving Stormy nuts It's windy and there must be something across from it setting it off. Every time it goes off he barks and runs to the window.
Time for more hot tea. Back later.

Now I get it! Takes this old lady a while . It was his last name!

Deleted Van Deleted….took me a while.
Lorita…One time, years ago, I was upstairs and saw my back neighbor drying himself off in his yard. Guess he thought he could not be seen…lol
OK, it is cold out. I had not thought to turn the sprinkler system off and three people were sliiding on my front sidewalk.
1 -
Judith, guess we can see anything anywhere. Do your sprinklers come on automatically? Glad you didn't get out on the sidewalk.
Called Directv and went through the whole troubleshooting thing to no avail so technician will come tomorrow between 8 and 12. I opened the tv stand door where the receiver is and Lilly was laying on it. No idea.how she got in - through the back, maybe. I get so tired of dealing with everything. Has not been my year.
Called Carol this morning to wish her a happy.birthday. She is 89 today, in good.health, no medications. I met her when I was 19 and she was 25 raising four little kids by herself. Has been a good, lasting friendship of two country girls who grew up three miles apart but never met until we were older because we went to different schools.
Really chill outside and windy. Was sunny but not now. Maybe I will Make some soup - Bear Creek.
