Any Advice for Stopping MCI Progression

What advise do you have for stopping MCI progression to Alzheimer’s? Has anyone on this site found anything that keeps this from progressing? My husband’s MCI is stable at this point, and we want to keep it that way. We are using Brain HQ online games, are on a plant based diet, exercise, and are doing everything else that we have read that slows progression. Thank you in advance.

My DH was diagnosed with MCI in 2018. He started doing all the recommended stuff and I could actually see improvement when he walked on the treadmill and did other exercises on a regular basis. His progression has been very slow and just this year is when it seems to be getting worse. He is probably in stage 4 now but he continues to sing in our church choir, play board games and walk for exercise mostly. I think doing all the recommended stuff and definitely slowed his progression.

Thank you for your candor. My husband’s brain MRI and PET scan ruled out Alzheimer’s or any neurodegenerative disease.

Feeling relief for you. I would be happy if my DH would live out the rest of his life as he is today…stage 4 ALZ. I am happy for you that this long, torturous journey will not be yours to take. Perhaps, when they discover why your LO has MCI, yours will be easier.

Eat a healthy diet and walk 30-45 minutes every day. Make sure your blood pressure and blood glucose are well controlled. And remember that not all MCI progresses to full blown dementia.
