Caregiver - Therapy

I've been primary caregiver for my mom for nearly two years. She's still living at home but no longer driving. Moods are hard, depression is a thing. My SO and daughter help with check ins but it's still a lot. I've been considering looking into therapy for myself. Any suggestions? Tips? Things to consider when finding the right therapist?

Some of my biggest stress and frustration comes from the health aspects - medical personnel are not always helpful. The local ADRC is really not great. Support groups meet at a very inconvenient time locally. I'm exhausted.

I would try to find one familiar with dementia. Some teaching hospitals have support groups. Some memory care facilities have them and are open to the public. You might try calling the toll free number at the bottom of this page to see if they know of any resources in your area.

I second the suggestion to find a someone familiar with dementia.

There is a Surviving Alzheimers support group that is remote:

It's put on by Ken Cardita, who does the Surviving Alzheimers podcast, which I HIGHLY recommend. I have learned so much from his podcast. He has a wonderful speaking voice, and just listening to him speaking really soothes my nerves.
