GriefShare

Looking in my area for support resources and little if any available but I did see where GriefShare holds an introductory one day session for those who have lost a spouse. I attended yesterday and it was interesting in hearing several stories from others about their loss. However, their 13 week workshop seems to be open to anyone who has suffered a loss, not one specific to loss of a spouse. I hesitate to sign up for a mixed group but would appreciate any input from others here who may have used this resource. Those at the introductory session all spoke to the difference for those losing a spouse versus loss of a different loved one. Just looking within my own family, coupled with the comments from others, causes me to pause before signing up further. Any experience to share?

I attend a free grief group that is only for spouses that have lost their loved one from Alzheimer's. We meet once a week on Zoom. It is sponsored by Hilarity for Charity. You can sign up online for a support group and they will connect with you when there is space available. https://wearehfc.org/support-groups/ It has been wonderful support for me.

They also have groups for losing a parent from Alzheimer's. I called the Alzheimer's Association and they gave me the Hilarity for Charity information.

I also attended the one session of Grief Share. It is hard for others to understand the grief with a death from Alzheimer's.

Thank you for the information about the zoom meeting. I will check it out immediately. It is a new suggestion for me. I can appreciate the struggle anyone has in the loss of a loved one but I also agree that the loss of a spouse brings unique aspects. I saw that confirmed in the one session GriefShare meeting as everyone told a bit of their story.
