The end is near

Today I was informed by the hospice nurse that they think my DW is in the very final stage. She is having difficulty swallowing and is taking in very little food or liquid. Yesterday she had only a few partial spoons of puréed food and juice. Today they are no longer able to give her medication as pills and so they will begin liquid morphine for pain and comfort.  The nurse was hesitant to make any definitive prediction, but said this generally means she will passing in "at most a couple of weeks". My research suggests less, although my DW has defied the past predictions of her passing, so who knows.

    I'm thinking of you @Vitruvius and your DW.

    When my sister got to that stage it wasn't two weeks. It was more like a week, but like you said, it's so hard to know.
