Help with phone

My 83 year old dad is in the mid to late stages of dementia. Most days he has difficulty operating his iPhone. Are there any phones for seniors/dementia patients that would be easier for him to navigate?

Some folks here may have specific phone recommendations. Unfortunately, as dementia advances, there is less capacity to learn new (even simpler) technology. I don't know anyone at my mom's memory care who is able to use a phone. I generally have to call family on my phone and then hand it to mom.

Google i phone assistive access, it might help for a while.

I bought mom the jitterbug flip phone through lively. I programed the phone with shortcuts, so all she has to do is press an hold the number 2 and she can call me. I printed out all the shortcuts and names and taped it by her bed. The phone allows her to take pictures and text, but that is usually not something she can do. I started her with the limited plan, but switched to to unlimited for $29 a month. She had accidentally texted some pictures and this used up too many of her minutes. So far it is working well, but I realize it’s only a matter of time before she can’t manage this anymore.

If you haven't already, consider remove any lingering bank or credit card info from his phone to avoid a nasty financial surprise if he or a bad actor try to use them.

anything you get will be very temporary. As the disease progresses he will lose the ability to use any device.

Thank you all so much for the help and suggestions. This is so difficult to navigate and a club I never wanted to be part of. So hard to see my dad who has been an ass kicker his whole life losing his personality and independence, this is definitely life changing.
