Ron - I hope you get to make that trip in the spring. And getting to see your niece would be great too. I'm sure she'd love it.

Your brother had a very interesting life - getting to tune pianos for Queen!! Wow.

Beth - Ugh. These late snows are such a bummer. It's been really cold here too. A few snow flurries, but nothing that sticks, thankfully.

eaglemom - I'm so sorry to hear about your friends, that is a lot to take in all at once. I'd be reeling too.

Today was fairly quiet for me. Just the gym and work. 🙂

Lorita, I am so sorry about Sheena. I know what it is like to live with a precious animal and to lose that good friend. It's losing a family member and it is so hard.

Good morning. It's the calm before the storm here this morning. We've got some unknown quantity of snow starting in about 24 hours. Could be a couple inches, could be over a foot. TBD.

Judith—An afternoon at the Barnes is always a treat. It's a very different art space in that they recreated the interior of the home in which Barnes hung them. It's all very quirky in much the same way the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum is. I do hope the snow doesn't interfere.

Ron— Your brother sounds like quite a character. I do hope you can make the trip over the summer. You should have something to look forward to that isn't medical in nature.

Beth— Your weather sounds icky with a potential to become really messy.

Iris— 43F is parka weather, for sure. I've been wearing mine almost daily this winter after only wearing it a few times the last 2 winters.

Lorita— I hope you and Sheena had an uneventful night.

Eaglemom— Four individuals from the same class with EO? That's so sad.

    _______________________________________________________

I should probably join the crowds at the grocery store later. But I'm thinking I'm probably good until Tuesday if the snow event is on the more impactful end of things. DH and I are meeting friends for dinner at the dive diner with the awesome food. I'm looking forward but first PT.

HB…did not know that about The Barnes. If I were ever to go back to NYC I would take the train from Philly.

    How did Sheena do?

Morning had one of a.double.hockey sticks kind of.night. Somehow I clicked on the wrong thing, or something and lost my WM and Chewy accounts and the ability to post on our thread. Just now figured out my password. so I could post.

Not much sleep. Sheena is about the same. She ate some and got.her.pain pill down but forgot her Lasix. She doesn't want to go outside, me neither -it's cold and windy.

Thank you all for your empathy. I know we all have lost a fur.baby or several. Guess I will need to get another puppy sometime. Stormy knows something is wrong.

I froze the card I use for those accounts until I get it figured out. Not being able to talk to my friends bothered me most.

I did see the US women's curling team lost out on the Bronze Medal this morning. We all need to get some sleep this afternoon. Darwin called - he only got about four hours sleep. Back later, I hope.

    Good morning,

Lorita, I know it’s hard to watch Sheena not doing well and yes fur babies become so much a part of your life. I know when I lost my littlebit, he had stopped eating and couldn’t even stand on all four. Cried like a baby when I handed him off to the vet, but realized I was only thinking of how hard it would be on me instead of how much he was suffering. I had 18 years with him and wanted more. At least Lou was at the point in her dementia, she didn’t know he was gone.

Where was that Judith? The guy here sold.his 160 for $20 million ten moved to Kansas. Good for that msn not selling. Thank ypu, Ron. It is so.hard to see them IIke this when they were once so active. I know I have cried enough o fill a.bucket with tears. Mike called and said the stress of taking her to see.him didn't help but I wanted to do all I.could but it was wrong. He thinks something else is wrong. She is over 12, very old for a Pyrenees. I will lift her as long as I can. Stormy is.hsving problems with his.back les, too. He is eleven.

I have the chance to get a ten Month old male Pyrenees- that is one reason he called. The woman has cats and one or two little dogs and he is too rambunctious for them because he is a puppy and wants to play. What to do? I would love to have another Pyrenees and he is young -the age Prince was when I lost him. I guess I will call her. He could stay outside.until Stormy gets used to him. Any ideas, anyone?

    Good morning.

It's warmed up to 63 degrees, still cold for me, but the sky is clear and not windy. The other day the wind and rain had knocked some K rails into the traffic lane, so I reported this to our non-emergrncy police number. Yesterday the K rails were back in place.

Eagle, I'm sorry about you losing so many classmates so close together. It's nice that you were able to keep in touch all these years. I don't know anyone from my high school.

Ron, your brother was a mensch! That means a good guy!

Lorita, do you have any puppy pee pads? That's what I used when my cat Simon had trouble making it to the litter box.

HB, are you getting around any better yet? I hope you don't have to go out in the snow.

Lorita…I miss having a dog but I think I am too old to take on a pet because I will die and then there is no future for them.If you insist get a small dog you can bathe in the kitchen sink.

That is four against the Pyrenees. I know that's the best thing but...We have a really good.no kill shelter close to the clinic and I did get Susie from them.

Went for a drive with Stormy and the work has begun on the solar farm a little over a mile from me. Big old machines tearing up the land. That guy is probably a millionaire and has three upscale restaurants so didn't need the money. All of this is about three miles north to where the data center and New power station will be. Ruining good land and pastureland. Several areas have refused to lease or sell. Power of all mighty money..

Your correct Lorita, the power of the all might money. I totally understand being progressive and such. What i can't wrap my head around is why these places have to be located in farm land, good farm land. But of course not everyone sees and understands the value of pastureland. I think there is a place for them, just away from vital land. That's my two cents worth.

Quiet day here. That flu literally kicked my backside. I'm feeling fine, I do have an occasional cough. But I just don't have any stamina. I'm quite content to sit and that's so not me. It's not like I'm not running the house, cooking, etc., but that's it. I've worked on the taxes for the accountant about 5 times, for a total of 5 minutes each time! It doesn't hold my attention, ugh. It will, just not right now. Monday I'll call and get our appointment. Although we might have made it last year? I don't remember?

Cornbread is almost done. That just sounded good tonight with dinner. I hope everyone can have a restful uneventful evening and night. Let's be safe everyone.

Lorita, I feel your pain and worry in my heart. I’m 70 this year and my Pyres are 3 and 4. If my husband outlives me he will keep them. If not, my youngest daughter or my cousin will do their best. I have a hand written addendum to my will that whatever comes they must go together as a bonded pair.

Would Mike or any of his staff be willing to take on your dogs were something happen to you?

Having said all that, I have no plans to ever have another dog or cat; inside or out. And while even that thought gives me some sadness, I know that’s best for us.

You, Sheena and Stormy are all in my daily prayers. God bless and keep 🙏❤️

Lorita, I won't get a puppy if I ever get another dog. I'll adopt an older dog that has outlived its human, that likes short walks and long naps like I do. Sean's little Pekingese Sassy jumps all over me, I can't imagine a big dog that active! I wonder if you could split the difference and find a 5-year-old dog.

Speaking of long naps, I clearly haven't gotten over that respiratory thing I've had for weeks. I slept well Thursday night, then last night I slept from 10 PM until 3:30 PM, missing breakfast and lunch. That's a lot of sleep, even for an old man. I haven't had fever and haven't felt all that bad, but I don't have any energy. I'd probably see a doctor this week if I had any sense.

Glad you're feeling better Eagle, It takes quite a while to get your strength back after the flu. Take your time and don't overdo. Cornbread sounds good. Do you all have cornbread and milk? It's so good and with brown beans.

!t has been sunny and cold here today with a north wind Took Sheena and Stormy out in the sun for half an hour or so and they were ready to come in.

I have a March 2nd appointment to get my taxes done.but may change it. Just not in the mood to get things together. You all sleep well. Think I will go to bed and watch curling. Good night.

Hi again, thanks for your.prayers JeriLynn. Several years ago I asked Mike if something would happen to me would he find.homes for the Pyrenees. He said he would. If I was ten years younget I would love another Pyrenees puppy but as Darwin pointed out I'm getting weaker every year and they are strong dogs. It was all I could do to hold them when Mike would come to give them allergy shots. I worry that I should.not have taken Sheena to the vet because she seems wraker.but I felt I had to do all I could. I thought he might find something to help her.. Guess he did by finding she was retaining fluid (14 lbs)and needed Lasix. He said the stress probably.bothered her.

Carl, I would.love to have the Pyrenees puppy but even at ten months he is.big and strong. Being a male.and a.puppy I'm afraid he and Stormy, at eleven, might not adjust.Mike said they probably would after a while.but if they got into a fight I couldn't stop it.

It is best I get a mature midsize or smaller one- when the time comes. We have had all breeds - St Bernard, German Shepherds and English Shepherds plus poodles and Heinz 57 and.not to forget Shih Tzus but I love Great Pyrenees.I just love dogs!

Iris, I will get some pee pads.but so far I have been able to get Sheena outside but it is getting harder. With the 14 lbs of fluid she weighs 70+even though she is thin.

Thanks to all of.you for.helping me with my decision. I haven't been able to get in touch with the owner Mike must have gotten the wrong number, or I did. I hope all of.you feel better and have a good.night's sleep.

Lorita - I'm not at all surprised that Stormy knows something is wrong. That's exactly how it was when Gamera was really sick. Godzilla knew, and I knew she knew. We just do the best we can for them.

I guess I'm the outlier here when it comes to questioning whether or not to add a new fur baby into the fold. If it were me, I'd get what I want and not worry about my age (I will be getting more cats - can't live without 'em). I hear you about a Pyrenees maybe being too large for you, but maybe a smaller dog? Or an older, smaller dog? My uncle did exactly what Carl suggested: when he was in his late '80s he got a small, older dog. It worked out great for the both of them. When my uncle passed away, my cousin took the dog.

When it comes to age, we don't know how long we have, so I'm of the mind that we should enjoy every day with what makes us happy. My aunt passed away at 59 and she had 3 cats and 3 dogs. I found homes for all of them. You just never know.

Like JeriLynn, I'm thinking all positive thoughts for you and Sheena. I hope you're all having a peaceful night.

Carl - I hope you start to feel better.

And you too, eaglemom. I hope your cornbread turned out well! I think when I'm off of my ABC diet, I'm going to make some. I love it, and I never have it - and it sounds so good!

Busy day today over on my end of the porch. My s.o. went to three different town hall meetings with state reps. He was really glad he went.

While he was out, I was home cleaning up. Once I got all of that done, I uploaded four new blog posts that Karyn had edited. I'm psyched. I also uploaded more photos. Because the blog can't be all doom and gloom, part of one of the new posts will feature Peggy's vast collection of yacht rock. So not my genre. 😄 Karyn and I just laughed. She'll laugh more in the morning when she sees the photos I've uploaded of album covers of Ambrosia, the Doobie Brothers, Bob Welch, the Captain and Tennille, and Toto.

Did you know that there's a sub-genre of music called middle-of-the-road? Me either. Turns out the Captain and Tennille are yacht rock and middle-of-the-road. I'm highly entertained.

Morning, the sun is up.but Sheena isn't. I have stood het up a couple of times.but she doesn't pull her front legs.back to support herself. Both of them slept in the LR last night didn't even whine or.bark to.come in the bedroom Stormy was sleepimg close to her when I opened the door. He is very quiet She raised.him from seven weeks old so she is.his mother.. I so wish I had not taken her to the vet I'm afraid it accelerated things but I hoped something could.be done to help her. I can't forgive myself for that.

GG I agree. I will get another dog after a while and give that it a good home. Stormy will need one. I wish this other Pyrenees was a female.

Watching the gold medal hockey game between the U.S. and Canada now. Today marks 40 years since the "miracle on ice," when the U.S. defeated the highly favored Soviets 4-3.

I'm ready for the Olympics to be over and normal programming to be on (particularly Jeopardy).

I'm thinking of you, Lorita. I know your heart is breaking. We left 3 (deceased) pets when we moved. They were buried under the cherry tree. The last two who passed were cremated due to frozen ground and other ground issues. I took comfort in looking at that area, my pet cemetery.

There were some good BB games yesterday, Arizona vs Houston, Duke vs Michigan and Orlando Magic vs Phoenix Suns. March Madness will be here before we know it. In Iowa, high school basketball tournaments are beginning soon as well.

Relaxing watching hockey but will soon need to get ready for church.

Take care everyone, especially those who are under the weather.

The birds have been having a.convention in the trees in front of the house- hundreds of them. I just fed them but all is quiet now. I pulled Sheena on her bed over into the sunshine and she seems to enjoy being in the sun.

    Good morning 😄 porch friends.

Lorita. Please don't feel bad for takng Sheena, to the vet, you did the right thing. I would have done the same thing. As far as getting a big puppy, I would get another one, but i think for me it would need to be small and not at a puppy age. If Mike, is willing to fine homes for your babies, then I vote for doing what your capable of doing. As far as a no kill shelter, hopefully that does not happen. And keeping the puppy outside till Stormy gets used to it, I don't see you doing g that.

HB. How are you feeling? I hope your taking care of yourself and getting lots of rest. You need to baby your baby knee. Take your time and don't rust it.

Eagle. This years flu is really getting people down. It had me down for a month and then another month to get my energy back. It sounds like you might be feeling better. Please continue to rest, so it doesn't flare up again.

Carl. I would love to sleep that many hours. Hopefully you feel rested today. I have a watch my daughter gave me, it shows I'm down for 8 hours and I only slept 3 to 5 hours. I don't, know if I believe that, I feel like I have slept most of the night.

Beth. I agree with you, I will be glad when TV gets back to regular programing. My daily schedule is set on my TV shows. 😂

Your all in my prayers, Hugs Zetta

We do all we can. We spent 3k+ on a dog i n her last 10 days. Ended up putting her down. Would spend it again.

I think I put Luke down too. Odd….can't remember.

Lorita…you took Sheena to get help and did get some med to help her so it was a good thing, Has the Lasix helped? If so, are you managing to get Sheena out and in?

So we won the Gold in hockey over Canada. Maybe that is the straw that will have them closing their boarder.

Small dog (under 20 lbs) that needs a home? That sounds reasonable if Stormy agrees…lol. It would mean that your back would not need to lift and carry large amounts of dog food…a bonus.

Laundry today and a few boxes to go through in preparation for Bulky trash pick up. In Santa Fe we took waste metal to a recycle lot…Oddn can remember!
