Lorita - I'm with Zetta, please don't feel bad about taking Sheena to the vet. It was the right thing to do.

Thinking of you, Sheena, and Stormy. ❤️

    Good night,

Going to bed early! Blood pressure has been high most of the day (160/98 HR 124) and close to the same all day, finally settled down at 132/64 BP 80. Just took it on VA monitor and 90/60 15 minutes later 88/58, heart rate good. First time I’ve ever had it high and drop so low. Going to rest and take it later tonight or in the morning. At least the VA will see the readings when they get there in the morning.

Thank you all for your comments and prayers. I'm hope the right thing was.taking het to the vet. Today I was able to let her stand a couple of times but no walking. I'm not strong enough to lift her entire weight without her help. I have her on her bed wih plastic under her. I don't think she has urinated more than a little today and twice yesterday.so guess she is shuting.down. Stormy is very quiet except when driveway alarm goes off.

I talked to Darwim about 7:30 this morning. then T alarm went off and I saw a white PU coming through the gate.. Went out on the porch and it was him. He had tried to call me several times but I had the phone on the charger in the bathroom with door closed so didn't hear it ring. He was scared something was wrong and said he was so.happy to see me come out on the porch instead of passed out on the floor. He was so upset he was shaking. He had forgotten we had talked earlier. Taught me a lesson to keep phone with me.

Again, thanks for your thoughts and prayers and words of encouragement. What a wonderful, caring virtual family of friends. Later I will get a small or midsized mature dog. I don't want to stress Stormy with another.big dog. Good night.

Lorita - I fear you're right about Sheena. I hope you and the two GPs have a quiet night tonight.

I'm hoping that none of you are in the path of the upcoming blizzard. I've been reading about that today. It seems like a big deal. Be careful out there.

Ron - I hope you're blood pressure settles down. I think you were right to turn in early. I hope you sleep well.

I had a good day and evening, which was nice. Karyn sent over four more posts that she had finished editing. They look good, and so I uploaded them into wordpress. I finished going through all of the photos and uploaded those, so now we have those to work with too.

I've been checking the DNA Lounge website to find out when I can get tickets to the Death Guild anniversary - and they went up today. Tickets have been bought. 🙂 And then - imagine my surprise when I saw that one of my favorite bands, Covenant, will be there the night before the anniversary. We got tickets for that show as well. Definitely put a smile on my face. Here's Call the Ships to Port in case you're curious. That song will pack the dance floor every time.

I'm going to head off to sleep early tonight so that I can start the week refreshed.

Good morning from blizzard country. It's not so much that we have gotten a crazy amount of snow, but that the winds have coated most of the windows in the house making it really hard to see what is going on outside. My weather app is forecasting another 5 hours/3" of snow. My desk is in a bump-out bay window and I feel kind of boxed in at the moment.

Lorita— I am so sorry for what you are going through with dear Sheena. Try not to second guess yourself around the visit to Mike's clinic; it sounds like a chicken vs the egg situation where is was the change in her status that justifiably alarmed you enough not bring her in. The Lasix is likely making it easier for her to breath which is a positive.

Ron— I hope you got a decent night's sleep afte r that BP roller coaster. Do they have any idea why that's happening?

Lady Z— I hope you're finally feeling a little more like yourself after the flu. I hear it's a doozy. I like the idea of adopting an older pet. We did that with mom's cat who was being rehomed rather than quarantined in HI for 6 months. It was a win-win. She was the perfect cat for mom. She'd been my niece's bestie's single girl cat and survived marriage to a dog-lover and 2 babies— I know she missed her companion initially but she soon saw the advantages of being a pampered only pet.

Beth— It's funny, I haven't watched a minute of Olympic programming, but mom called me yesterday to tell me all about the USA vs Canada game. She was pumped. Who knew? Not me. I had no idea she enjoyed hockey although growing up in suburban Boston it tracks.

I hope you get your mojo back soon. You're too busy a bee to be sidelined.

Judith— Lucky you to have bulk pickup. We have to arrange it through our local waste company and it's $$$ and inconvenient. Grr.

We lucked out, the township's bulldozer is digging out the cul de sac. They typically do a much better job than the landscape company subcontractors who tend to plow us and out mailbox in which is a PITA to undo even with a 2-stage snowblower.

I had to cancel PT and reschedule mom's PCP appointment for this afternoon. This is not all bad. I caught some sort of stomach bug from DH over the weekend and was pretty miserable so I'm not really up for it. Food still doesn't seem very appealing. DS was going to take mom to her appointment, but since I rescheduled for Thursday, I'll be able to go with her. It's kind of pointless to send her solo as she's not a reliable reporter.

I hope all have a pleasant day.

    Good morning,

Just sent m morning blood pressure reading to VA. It’s back to normal at 136/81and hopefully stay around the same. I’ve never had blood pressure drop so low before and after having high readings all day, to drop so low is confusing. The only thing that happened differently is my son prepared chicken chow mein and egg noodles night and I’m use to stick to your ribs food.

About to go back to bed, I just don’t feel like doing anything, probably get back up in a little while and lay back down afterwards. Looks like Carl’s sleeping long hours might be a Missouri thing, I would never do this in Louisiana.

The Blizzard sounds awful. You all be careful and stay in if you can. Cold here this morning, low 20s WC in teens but will be sunny.

Stormy slept in the LR with Sheena. He is very quiet. She has moved around some during the night.and her bed is wet. I have tried to get a serape under her but can't bend her back legs - all four legs are out straight in front of her. Second time I have gone through this with a Pyrenees - just too much to deal with alone. But I have all of you and Darwin. He just called and said he wss going to fix something to eat for Donna and give her meds and go back to bed. He went Through this with his big dog a few months ago. He was big and went everywhere with him. Hr got down and Finally he had to put him down himself. Still bothers him and always will.

Thank you, Iris for the hugs - will hug Sheena for you.

HB, are you getting a lot of snow and wind? One news report said here was up to 30" in places with 65 mph wind. Sunny and 48 here but it's really chilly.

Hope you're feeling better with your new knee. Be very careful.

Been trying to ge in touch with my tax preparer to reschedule March 2 appt. but haven't yet. I just can't concentrate on it right now. Sheena was restless so was able to get her out in the yard for a while. She was able o walk a little bit..

Judith and Lorita - I saw this article today on Ars Technica and thought you'd both appreciate it:

Data center builders thought farmers would willingly sell land, learn otherwise

    Good morning.

That was an encouraging article, GG.

Lorita, it's nice that Stormy and Sheena spent the night together and that Sheena was able to get outside.

HB, my brother got 17 inches of snow on Long Island. It's warm here in SoCal.

Carl, I didn't even get dressed yesterday. I had to take a four hour nap to catch up on my sleep. I feel rested this morning.

Ron, I hope you have a good dental appointment.

Glad you got some rest, Iris.

Had the beautiful and the ugly here yesterday. I went to breakfast with a small group of widowers and two chaplains, then saw a woodchuck and the first dandelion of the Spring. I picked DS up at 4 PM and saw three police cars blasting by at high speed, then a blue alert came on my phone. A deputy had been shot and killed in a traffic stop. The police found the shooter in the woods around midnight, and he and another deputy were killed in the gunfight. Two other deputies were shot but are expected to survive.

That C&W song had it right. God is great, beer is good, people are crazy.

Morning, interesting, GG. I don't know if that is what happened here. I have mentioned one man sold 160 acres for 20 million. They kept upping their price then finally told him to name his price, and he did. Land in this area sells for $3,000 or so. I know of four or five.landowners North of me who refused to sell. All of this is in the county across from me. Nothing in our county yet. They did want to build a wind farm around the lake.but people rebelled.

Things are.not good this morning. Did.get Sheena up onc e last night and helped.her to get a drink. This morning I.helped.her stand and get on another bed. Pulled.her over by the door and shenis laying in the sun. She wants it g o outside but can't get her up. This afternoon will be warm so will try again and do it. Her time is close. She has.been mostly down for a month. I want her to go peacefully without help from the vet. How I.can bury het I don't know. Stormy is sad I can tell. Maybe after she is gone a new small dog right away so he won't be alone. He wss used to Barclee so I think it would be okay.

Dry,windy day with fire weather warnings. The grass in yard is green and in front and south is a little green. Sheena kept crying so put a bed on the porch and pulled her out. She is still crying.

When I went out saw dust or smoke south, then saw Ray, neighbor south, on his tractor. Called.his.nephew just south of me and he said he thought he was sporting Bermuda grass sprouts.

I talked to Sheena and told her it was okay to go to the Rainbow Bridge. So hard to hear her cry. She doesn't make an effort to help get up after I got her up this morning. I'm sorry - just have to talk about it.

Carl,How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"

"He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would, if a woodchuck could chuck wood"

Lorita…we are here to listen and are sad with you. Maybe leave her bed in the sun, slip a pee pad under her and offer some ice chips to keep her mothe moist. The crying must be terrible to hear and realize she may be in pain.

    Carl …you saw a woodchuck?

    Ron…had forgotten that!

Yes, I saw a woodchuck and drove within 20 feet of him since he was close to the road. They are easy to see at this time of year when the grass is short. It was apparently done with hibernating and came out to enjoy the day. It's 60 degrees outside today, seems very Spring-like. It's windy and we're under a fire alert, but it feels nice. The birds are starting to nest too. A cardinal was singing his heart out a while ago.

    OK…googled for a pic of a woodchuck…AKA ground hog. That was a surprise…

email from friend in Puerto Vallarta

All quiet today.  All restaurants, shops, markets etc. open.  No burned out vehicles on the streets.  Business as usual WITH a lot of caution from me!  Military is here but I haven't seen any of them.  So far, so good.

Ron, I had never heard the Last part of that. Carl, I never have seen a woodchuck. Are they very big? The wind is so strong - gusta to 35-40 moh. Ryan, my Fed-Ex man just came.by and Said the wind was doing a job on his tuck blowing it around. He said he hadn't seen any fires. Glad Ray had worked his land and his meadow is short so south wind doesn't worry me too much. North wind is scary until the meadow and pasture along the road green up.

I had Sheena on the porch since early and just brought her in. She can't help get up and I can't lift her so have to pull het on her bed. She hasn't eaten, even vanilla wafers she loves. She does drink a lot of water and will give her pain pills, crushed in ice cream. She is resting now and Stormy is laying close to her. She raised him so is his mom.

Rescheduled my tax appointment - can't deal with that now. Need to get into town soon to get feed for Billy and donate those sweaters. Also need to return a heater to WM so will get groceries then.

Thanks, Judith and Zetta-helps to talk.about it.

    Afternoon…….

Lorita talk away about what your going through. Many of us have been there ourselves. Its heartbreaking for sure, but when its time they tell you & you know. We don't have to like it and don't. I always try to think of the good fun things, while of course crying my eyes out. We're here for you.

Did those in the snow storm survive alright? Some of the pictures are amazing. Having 3+ feet of snow to tend to is too much for me!

Its so windy here. The temp is fine, but the wind makes it feel cool. I've had a jacket on all day, even inside.

Tax appointment made with the CPA. Check. Things in order for said CPA, not quite. But I have time.

HB how are you and the baby knee doing? Do not join the ODC (over did it club). I'm surprised it hurt having the staples removed. I'm sorry that happened and ouch.

Ron you made me laugh when you said you'd better remember to take your teeth to the dentist!

Carl when those blue alerts happen it takes my breath away. Tougher job than anyone realizes I do believe.

Time for shredding. I'm trying to shred one year of files every several days. Everything's backed up on the computer and the paper files can go. Let's be safe everyone.

Sheena has gone to the Rainbow Bridge to be with Barclee and Susie and to wait for Stormy and me. She was breathing deeply while I wrote the above post. I finished and looked at her and she was still- was probably about 3:50.She is at peace and is running and playing with Barclee and Susie. She was able to go at.home on her bed instead of in the clinic and without being injected. She spent the morning on the porch in the sun. I am heartbroken.
