Lorita, I am so sorry for your loss. Dear, sweet Sheena.
Sending love, hugs and prayers 🙏❤️0 -
Oh, Lorita, I am so sorry. You took good care of her and loved her so much. She was fortunate to have you. If you need help burying her, maybe one of Mike's vet techs (younger people), like Sidney, would be willing. Or someone who has some equipment they can use rather than using a shovel. I always liked having mine close to me at home. 😢

Lorita, I am sorry to learn of Sheena. She had a good life with you and your critters.

Lorita, my eyes were tearing thinking about you and Sheena. Sheena had a great life with you and Stormy and all the other critters there on the ranch. She's on the Rainbow Bridge with the others now. That poem is so comforting. May your memories of Sheena comfort you.

Lorita - I'm so very sorry about Sheena. Our "pets" aren't really pets, they're our friends and our family. Like others have said, you took such good care of her….
Spend some time with Stormy (I know you will), he's going to need some TLC now.

Lorita. Sheena is resting in peace. She is playing with all her friends. Please try your best to get some rest. You and Stormy need each other right now. Hugs 🫂 🫂 😪 Zetta

I'm sorry about Sheena, Lorita. At least she got to end her life in the sunshine with the person and dog she loved.

I am surprised you don't have woodchucks (groundhogs, whistle pigs, etc.) in Oklahoma. They are common in Missouri and the eastern US. Cattle owners consider them a nuisance, not because they eat all that much (they only weigh 5 - 15 pounds) but because they dig hidden burrows and cattle break their legs in them. My grandfather raised cattle and killed woodchucks on sight. Woodchucks hibernate from late October to mid-February in this climate and seeing a woodchuck in February is a sign of approaching Spring.

Lorita, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Sheena, your beloved gp. I thought for a long time when I was reading that they were your grandpuppies.

Thank you all for your kind words about Sheena.. She is already missed. Stormy went out before dark and just after dark I opened the door to let him in and he was laying beside her covered body on the porch listening to coyotes.. She was his mother except for the first seven weeks of his life.
She was 12 years and one month old, old for a Great Pyrenees. Both of them understood everything I said so I had a talk with her this afternoon about the Rainbow Bridge and that it was okay for her to go if it was time. I know she understood. That poem is beautiful and makes me cry!
She has the most beautiful.white, fluffy hair I have ever seen. She could lay in the dirt and it was still white and pretty.. She loved to be brushed and when I would pick up her brush she would come and stand in front of my chair to be brushed. A few months ago I began saving her hair to !make a little pillow. I will make it now to remember her, as if I need it.
Stormy is very quiet and has been sleeping by the door to the porch. I guess you can always think of something you wish you had done. I had meant all week to scramble eggs for them but didn't get it.done. She loved scrambled eggs.
Darwin will come today to help me bury her, in the backyard near Kitt, one of my cats and CiCi, one of our poodles. I woke up at four with a left sided headache and couldn't go back to sleep.
Again, thanks to each of you for your kind words. Being without Sheena won't be easy.

Morning, hope you're feeling better this morning Ron. It was me who was lucky to have Sheena in my life those eleven years. Everyone is very quiet this morning. Stormy went out and just passed.by Sheena but I can tell he is grieving. The cats are also extra quiet.
Thank you, Loveskitties it made me cry but what doesn't?- she is with Barclee, Susie and Charles and I'll be there before too long. I told her about it yesterday.
Darwin isn't feelIng too well and neither of us got much sleep last night so we will take care of her this afternoon. Gonna be hard in more ways than one. I so wish the 10 month old Pyrenees was a girl.
I wrote above about 9:30. Darwin came and we dug the grave. We got Sheena in the back of his Mule and drove out to the backyard behind the storage Building where we have four or five other graves. I found a.blue tarp and laid her on it doubled and coveted.her with four layers. She won't get wet and will be near. We were lucky in that we dug it the right size and depth. I have quite a few rocks like we have on our house so will put them on her grave. She is missed.. Back later.

Oh Lorita I'm so sorry. Your heart is broken. Of course she is missed and will be missed every day. Give Stormy a little extra attention and maybe some scrambled eggs. Great big TX sized hug for you.

Lorita:
I see you crying by my side
Your hand is warm, I feel your love
I'm getting tired, but I'm alright
I had the best life I could dream of You gave me sunshine every day
A home, a bed, your gentle care
Now it's my time to go away
But in your heart, I'll still be there
Don't be sad when I am gone
Your love will keep me running free
Across that rainbow, I'll go on until you come and find me
Thank you for it all, every walk, every ball
Every time you called my name I'd do it all again the same
Thank you for it all, for it all
You gave me everything and more
You were my human, I was yours
The greatest love I ever knew
So close your eyes and let me go
I'll wait for you, I want you to know...Thank you for it all

What a lovely poem, Beth!
Lorita, it's so nice that you have space on your own property to bury your pets.
We have pet cemeteries here. I find it comforting to walk among the plots and to read the inscriptions on the plaques.

What a beautiful sunrise Ron. I misseed ours this morning. Supposed to be 70+:for rest of this week. No wind this morning! I hear geese so guess the pair is Still here. Hope they have little ones. Iris, when we lived in the MH on another part of the farm we had lots of poodles and Queensland Heekers so therr are lots of little graves up here as well as down here. Seems like back then I could deal with these things easier.
Zetta, I heard that Jackie and Shadow have a new egg! Hopefully they will.be successful this time.. Bet they.won't leave the nest alone again. There is a nest in Bartlesville Okla.. With three eggs that should hatch early next month. Think you can get it with Bald Eagle nest in Bartlesville. They are having a contest to name the parents-George and Martha and two others I don't remember.
I need to go to town today to get sweet feed for Billy and take those.sweaters to donate.. Also need a few groceries and return a heater. Zetta, they don't pick up returns here.
Might call Kate to see if they might. have a puppy or nice little dog to cone and live with us. Maybe a Pyrenees puppy!! Not sure if I should do it.now or wait a while. Ideas?

I just talked with Kate at the shelter. She has a litter of nine 64% Pyrenees puppies she is fostering.. They are about eight weeks old. The are 8% Golden Retriever, 8% some type of guard dog and 8% something else. One female, which I would want is all white except a like tan on her ears like Stormy and weighs 10 1/2 lbs. I am interested.
She thinks a puppy woild.be ok for Stormy. He is pretty laid back. She was going to send them up north for adoption so I need to think about it. What do you think?

I'm still a little fuzzy - drinking my morning tea right now, but here's what my fuzzy brain thinks —
When to get a new puppy or kitten (or older dog or cat) is so very personal, and only you know when you're ready.
But - if you think you're ready to get a puppy now, you should go for it. And you've said you'd like an all-white female, and she has one of those. Have you seen the puppies yet?

Not yet. They aren't at the shelter, being fostered. Getting ready to either go there or into town to do a Couple of things. Not sure when she is going to send them up north.
