I need to go to MY house

We would drive my mom around the block and when we got back to the house, she’d usually feel “home” again. Don’t bother explaining that’s she’s already home - it won’t do any good and will probably just make her more upset. Good luck and I’m sorry - this stage is hard but it is a stage.

Hello and welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason.
I agree with Amanda - some folks just go around the block. You could try redirecting, but I know sometimes a LO can get fixated and that is difficult.
If mom remains agitated, make sure you let her doctor know. There are meds for agitation without becoming zombied.

Quit trying to explain anything to her. When she wants to go home, tell her you understand and as soon as the car is fixed, you can take her or any other reason…bad weather, other commitments right now, that you can do it tomorrow, etc etc etc. Also, meds may help as suggested above

Thank you! This disease is devastating. My dad has it as well.

welcome. Sorry about your parents. I learned here that you should never argue with someone with dementia and you can’t reason with someone whose reasoner is broken. Read the book “The 36 Hour Day” which helped me after my husband’s diagnosis. Also search online for dementia caregiving videos by Tam Cummings or Teepa Snow. Come here often for info, support or to vent. We understand what you’re going through. 💜
