My mom has been very active at night, talking to herself, calling me, can’t settle down etc. anxious any suggestions?
she is on 100 mg of Trazadone, rispiridal, buspar, visteral and nothing is helping her to sleep!
She was also recently diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure from an arthritis medication side effect.
i feel so sad for her.

Is this new behavior that maybe doc doesn't know about, yet?
Perhaps something can be adjusted. And always ask her doc before trying anything, but ask if she can have some melatonin.

yes, it is new, thanks so much for your advice!

have they checked for UTI? Maybe time to have a hospice evaluation? You need to be able to sleep. 💜

Dad was like that with laundry and his"job" at AL. Drs. recommendation was Melatonin at dinnertime (around 5pm) and then his respridone and trazadone at night/bedtime. It's worked wonders to split his meds up a wee bit. As recommended above, ask her Dr. I brought up his sundowning and hyperacitivity in the later evening.
He actually said he was needing to go to bed while we were at the grocery store @8pm!

thank you! Melatonin does not work for her. She ate 1/2 bottle of gummy melatonin once at my house and it did not phase her!

Yes, uti was negative. I spoke to her MD about hospice and he is on board, I will look into it after she has a neuro psy evaluation.
thanks do much!0 -
Sorry but Melatonin frequently does not work and I have heard of it making things worse. Her circadian rhythm is off. It's not uncommon. My mother gets like that too sometimes and we're still trying to find something that works. Sorry. UTIs can effect that too. If you hear of something please pass it on.

Melatonin, then magnesium helped my mom, then trazadone. LS she sleeps better now. Less agitated.
