PET scan
My DH had a brain PET scan required in order for him to be eligible for infusion medications. Are there centiloid levels that are too high for eligibility? His level was 127.7. Does anyone have info on this? Nervously awaiting info from neurologist. Thank you.

I wish I could help. It indicates significant plaque but I'm not sure if there is a high level cut off. MCI or mild dementia are also part of the criteria.

Hello! My DH was recently diagnosed with AD. It took me a year to get him to see a doctor as he absolutely did not see what I was seeing, and even now does not accept his diagnosis or symptoms. I have come to learn the reason for this is "anosognosia." I was so hopeful he would be able to qualify for the immunotherapy medications (monoclonal antibody IV therapy). There seems to be much hope in these therapies. Unfortunately after his MRI, the results showed micro-hemorrhages throughout his brain associated with the amyloid plaques which automatically eliminated him from being a candidate. I was told one of the side effects of these therapies can be brain swelling or brain bleeds so regular MRIs are done regularly. One of my good friend's Dad is doing this and having favorable results. I pray your DH will be a candidate as well.

Myself and family members were noticing changes for at least 2 years before my DH would agree to testing. His PCP, who is also a friend, wasn’t seeing it and I had to push for an appointment with a Neuropsych; extensive testing was done at that appointment which helped my DH realize that he had issues. We were then referred to a Neurologist who did bloodwork and further studies to diagnose AD. His recent MRI didn’t show any brain bleeds so I’m hopeful he will be eligible for these medications. Thank you for your prayers. I will pray for you and all those suffering from this disease and their caregivers and family.

Thank you so much! I believe in prayer! Prayers are always answered; maybe not in the way we’re hoping for but God doesn’t make mistakes! We have to trust him.
