My DW is now refusing to take her evening medications.
Usually on queue, my DW will take her medications in the morning and in the evening. Today, I gave her the medications for the night, and she refused to take them. No matter what I tried, she would not take them. Her medications cannot be crushed and added to food (that's another story). It's very frustrating. What is a caregiver to do? Wait it out and try again later maybe?

It is very frustrating when this happens and it is hard not to get into a power struggle. Depending on what the medication is , I try again later or skip it. At a recent appointment , the doctor discontinued two of his nighttime meds and that helped. At this stage for us, the medicines that manage behavior are the ones I focus on.

Too bad they can’t be crushed. My DH off and on yells, “No!” when I try to give meds. It’s frustrating. I put the ice cream/crushed pills down and try again. Sometimes I bribe him, I say something like, take your pills so we can go on a ride.

Jeff, I am noticing changes in DWs behavior that I think are related somewhat to the recent time change and very nice weather here. (Not sure where you are located but it has been sunny and in the mid 70s here for weeks now) I have tried changing the time of her meds making it part of an after dinner routine and including vitamins for me (my meds). It seems to be working for now and easier than at 5-6pm like in the winter.
