Help needed - dealing with delusions

My Mom is 91 y/o, living alone, with dementia/Alz. She is convinced that her neighbor is getting into her condo and "ruining my Mom's Life!" Anything that is missing, marked or newly noticed by my Mom is her neighbor's doing. Over time, we have added 3 deadbolts on her front door and a motion camera in her foyer (which has never shown the neighbor in the condo!) Mom has now become angry with me (only child) and my husband for not doing anything to help her. Mom's responses are becoming more intense as is her insistence that we DO something. Please share ideas and thoughts on how to handle this. thank you.

Tell her you have contacted the police and they are investigating. You could even have someone call her on the phone and tell her ‘this is officer Anderson, we have received your complaint and are taking it very seriously. There is an investigation under way and I’m sure we will be able to figure out what is going on! ‘. Delay, delay delay.

Terri’s recommendation is good. Fib to her and tell her you took care of it. I would speak to her doctor about medication to help with delusions and anxiety. She should not be living alone. It’s not safe. Make plans to move her where she has 24/7 care.
