The Enid tornado looked pretty bad on video. A big funnel cloud on the ground, kicking up tons of soil, with bright flashes as the power lines went. It was headed straight for the camera, which was at the air base. Radar shows today's storm line passing McAlester and heading into Arkansas. It's beautiful here this evening, 70 and mostly sunny. It's a good evening to take a walk and later make for the sleep I lost last night.

Iris, there is a tornado season, and it is right now. Tornadoes can happen at any time of the year, but Spring is when we see most of them.

It was! Darwin who came over. He came.back and I barely heard him knock. He couldn't get his phone to work. Lilly got on his.lap and acted like she knew him. He found her in mid winter trying to survive among his bales of hay. Took her home but she didn't get along with their cats so gave her to me. The rest is history.

Goodlife — I'm with you! No way could I deal with any part of that whole pig. As soon as I saw that photo, I skipped over it as quickly as I could. I know - weird thing coming from me - I'll watch any horror film you put in front of me, I'm reading "Feed" by Mira Grant (zombies) right now, but whole animals like that will creep me out every time.
I hope all of you continue to be safe from the tornadoes. I saw a lot of photos of the recent ones … it all looked mighty scary.
Iris - I'm loving your photos of Italy! (well, except for the pig). 😄 Florence is such a wonderful city. Actually, it all makes me want to go back to Sicily.

Beth - Judith - HB - Skin care, etc.? This is where I fail. I can't say I have much of a routine. My skin care is to wash my face with soap and water, and then put on moisturizer. That's about it. Make-up for me is pretty minimal (unless I'm going out and need dramatic make-up). But - I always make the time to make sure my nails are done. It's rare to see me without nail polish.
Over in my neck of the woods - travel to Charleston and the Bay Area. At least there will be several of us for this move. I'm looking forward to my aunt's birthday party too.

Judith, Lorita and anyone else who likes the OKC Thunder - there is a Netflix series called "Starting Five." It follows several players - personal life and games - for an entire season. Netflix hit the nail on the head with their choices of players for Season 2 (last year). They followed Shai (SGA) and Tyrese Haliburton - both of those whose teams played in the NBA Finals for the Championship. Also featured on Season 2 were Kevin Durant, James Harden and Jaylen Brown. I loved this series. Season 1 featured Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, LeBron James, Domantus Sabonis and Jayson Tatum. I did not watch Season 1 but I loved Season 2.
And, for football fans, there is the Netflix series "Quarterback." 2 seasons so far, and the first featured Patrick Mahomes and others. I watched both seasons. Season 3 is coming in July 2026. And then there is "Kelce." That is on Amazon Prime. The series followed the brothers and the climax features Jason Kelce's Eagles and Travis Kelce's Chiefs meeting in the Super Bowl.
Ok, enough TV and sports talk!
I am hoping for orioles to arrive to my jelly feeder soon. Right now I am seeing a lot of house finches eating jelly.
Last evening I went down to the pond and threw in fish food (I bought a 25 lb bag at Tractor Supply). This isn't aquarium fish food; it's for game fish. I enjoyed seeing them come get it.
Thursday I went to the gym. Then we met a former neighbor - we have both moved since - and we had lunch. Then she came over to our house to visit and to see it. She had not seen the house we moved to a year and a half ago.
Friday I went to a book sale at the library. I bought 13 books. I now have probably 20 books I own that I haven't yet read. I wonder how long it'll take me to get to them. I also have a couple of talking books on the libby app coming soon. One is "Spare" and the other is "Family of Spies." My daughter does the talking books on her commute to and from work. I think I actually prefer a book in hand. After the book sale, I went to the gym and then came home and mowed the lawn. DH grilled chicken breasts and I made baked potatoes for dinner last evening.
Today I have absolutely nothing I "have" to do but I will keep myself busy. I'll read and go for a walk for sure.
Not much Iowa tornado damage from two nights ago. OK is really getting hit and I'm sorry for that.

Good morning. It's grey on my end of the porch this morning with rain forecasted to start around 2pm. Chilly as well.
Beth— My BIL had a couple of black walnut trees. He used to joke that he'd sell one off to pay for each of his kid's tuition when the time came. He also had a massive cuckoo clock carved from black walnut in his living room— the case alone was over 4' tall.
Carl— Wild boar is a lot like pork but more intense. More like the pork chops we might have had as kids before they bred the flavor out of the meat. I do like a porchetta sandwich (minus the head) made with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and a roasted long hot pepper. So good.
Iris— That last meal looks better than anything else you've posted. LOL, I have the Vionic loafters in the lower left of the window in black suede.
Ron— I hope you're feeling better. The omelet looks lovely; I bet you enjoyed it. When mom was condemned to a "soft diet" for a time, the hospital served her a lot of orzo with a variety of sauces. It wasn't too appetizing looking, but once she got home and used her own gravies and sauces it tasted pretty good.
Goodlife— Same tech or perhaps a common event in car shops? I will say they had an account with the Enterprise Rental down the street and had me in a rental in about 20 minutes which was great.
Beth— I hope you like Spare better than I did. It was perhaps the cringiest memoir I have ever read. The summer after it was published it was singled out by a hotelier's association as that year's book most often left behind when folks checked out.
Eaglemom— I hope the pilot program goes well. I wonder what sort of activities they'll include. Whenever I think of Remington, it reminds me of my mom's crazy neighbors on the golf course in MD. They had a Remington statue of native American on a horse holding a spear. The wife had too many martinis one night, tripped and ended up spearing herself. They were also the ones who would blast old Ethel Merman WW II era songs and march around the course's cart path.
Lorita— How nice of Rusty to be looking out for you. I thought cats were the only ones who deem we humans as incompetent and offer us treats. My old himmie used to bring DS mice when he was little. I'd find them in the boxes of Lego and on his train layout from time to time. Yuck.
Judith— How are you liking your new phone upgrade? I've had my iPhone so long I dread the day I am forced to learn a whole new phone.
Gothic G— I know a couple of people who aren't much into cosmetics or even hairstyling, but whose nails are always done. I'm the opposite. I've had 3 professional manicures in my entire life and manage to smudge 2 of them on the way out the door. These days I do a quick coat of Zoya's Naked Manicure and call it good if I'm headed somewhere dressy.

Mom saw her new endocrinologist to discuss medication. The doc seemed very honest about the limitations and drawbacks and sent mom home to look at her patient education website. She was not at all pushy. The doc discussed lifestyle changes— mom already supplements and eats freakishly well. At 89 with COPD, scoliosis, and CHF, exercise isn't able to be much more than walking although she puts a lot of steps in because of the layout of her house.

Afternoon - for the moment it's pretty and sunny but that isn't good for later today. Sun and warmth can lead to bad storms later.
Wild hogs are in all of our 77 counties. A few years ago I saw several of them on the section East of us but none since. I always worried that I might run into one when I was out in the pastures but didn't. There were lots of them north of us on Darwin's place.but his son did away with them. Not sure if they ate any of them. As my grandma would say - the sky is clabbering up- not nearly as.blue but mostly white. Surprising how fast weather van change in the spring.
I need to get the trash together to take down when I go to he mailbox before the Thunder play at 2:30. I still miss KD playing with them.
Carl and Ron- have you all ever eaten poke? It's coming up all around the corral fence and some in the yard. We used to cook it and it was good with brown beans. Also wild onions cooked with scrambled eggs. We used to find lots of them along the roads but hardly see any now.. They are the pits to clean though. One of our VA Social Workers used to come out to fish with Charles and he dug up poke roots to plant at his house in town. I bet they are still there.

Lorita, I tried poke salad when I was younger and didn’t care for it. Lou use to make wilted lettuce for her and me, which I enjoyed. She would fry beacon. Wilt the lettuce in the beacon grease. Serve it with beans, cornbread and pork chops.
It’s been so nice this morning sitting outside with a cool breeze blowing. Turkeys know it’s not hunting season yet, so they just stroll through my front yard.

I have never eaten poke. We never had it at home, but my mother started cooking and eating it after I was grown. I see it in fences nearby, and sometimes it grows in my flower beds, but I just treat it as a weed.
I love that song about Poke Salad Annie.
I had a pleasant lunch with a friend at a local Chinese restaurant today. We talked and ate for two hours.
It's a gorgeous day, 76 and sunny. I should go out and week my flower beds.

We used to have wilted lettuce, too, Ron.. Charles loved it. I liked that song too, Carl. Also love Chinese food, especially fried rice. We used to cook Chinese food a lot. I had never had it until I got married. Charles spent the Korean War in Korea and Japan so he liked it and introduced me to it.
Tornado warning near Heavener going into Arkansas -Hail the size of tennis.balls. Just heard something about hail near or just north of here. PU is out and half the car is out of carport. Couldn't get the back of it in. It has begun!

Hello.
Has anyone had to go down to the cellar for a tornado? I see the tornados are back.
Yesterday was a busy day. After a long drive through verdant agricultural land, we approached a dairy farm with two breeds of cows. This farm produces parmigiano cheese. We learned the entire process of churning the milk and cream. The wheel of cheese is soaked in salt water, then aged for a minimum of twelve months, then is inspected and given a certificate if the wheel meets the standards.
The milk is churned in these 1000 liter vats.

These wheels weigh 50 kg, over 100 lbs. We all had to wear a hairnet and covering inside.

Next we toured a farm for making balsamic vinegar from special grapes, not the same grapes as wine grapes.

Yesterday we visited the Borromeo Palace. Before unification in 1861, Italy was divided into duchys and kingdoms and other entities, with their own palaces and castles and fortresses. Frankly, I can't remember all that we have been told. But these wealthy people had a summer palace on this island in the middle of Lake Maggiore. It's like a mini Versailles, with fancy room, walls covered with artwork and tapestries, beautiful carved furniture, beautiful marble floors, and delicate glass tableware. Outside were beautiful gardens. Here are some highlights.

Eagle, I hope you're OK. I heard at least one person was killed by tornadoes in your area last night.
I had a really good lunch today. The church has a potluck buffet on the last Sunday of each month, and we had a really good lunch and visit. Every woman knows how to cook something, and each brings her best dish.
Lovely day today, tornado watch tonight. Springtime in the Ozarks.

Yes, we are fine. We do not have a storm shelter. Back in KS growing up we had one, I hated that thing but it did serve its purpose. We had some small branches to pickup this morning was all. We're in a tornado watch now. The air feels very heavy, I don't like that at all.
