Agitaion and Anxiety

My husband in MC has begun getting up at night numerous times and wandering the halls and trying to go into other residents rooms. This goes on all night long. The nurse told me he goes into the day room and sits in one chair and then another and can't seem to sit still for any length of time. The nurse practitioner has increased his Trazadone from once in the morning to adding a dose at betime. He has been on that for two days and so far it hasn't helped. I visited him yesterday and when he saw me, he came hurrying up and threw his arms around me. He seemed so relieved to see me, like he was waiting for me. I led him to a rocking chair and pulled another chair alongside him. He was talking a mile a minute but not making much sense. He didn't seem to be able to relax. I tried rubbing his neck and back and he enjoyed that but soon started talking and rambling again and pointing outside and telling me all kinds of things that I dearly wished I could understand. It took over an hour for him to settle down a little bit. I felt so sorry for him and at a loss as to how to help him. I did ask the aide to have him checked for a UTI. From what I read later, this behavior could be disease progression or maybe even an unmet need…emotional or physical. He doesn't seem to be in pain. This is so hard for me to watch. I have seen others at his MC start down this road where they can't sit still. I feel so sad and distressed.
