Joe is gone
Good morning. I joined this discussion board over five years ago. Y'all have been with me as I learned the importance of seeing a lawyer, as I hoped to keep Joe home, as I placed him in memory care, as I negotiated the girlfriend in MC, and throughout the journey. I appreciate the people here—those who were here when I arrived and have moved on, and those who arrived more recently and have offered or received support. You have been my community for a long time.
Joe was in memory care for about a third of the time we were married. We met in January 2013 and married in November 2016. He was on hospice for about three months before he passed.

So sorry for your loss. I too have said time and again that I will keep my DW until the end but it is getting more difficult and lonely now. From what I have read here on this forum is that when it’s ready to put DW in MC, I will know that it is the best choice for her.

I’m sorry for your loss! Your insights have helped me so much. My DH and I met in 2015 and married in 2019. We started on this part of our journey about 2-3 years ago. He still does pretty well at functioning at this point but I see the inevitable coming too. Blessings to you!

You did your job well, and I'm so very sorry for this tremendous loss. Yes, please stick around as you feel able - we can be a great group for stage 8 as well - or you may see a person with a problem you were able to solve while you were caregiving. It does help to give back.

So sorry for your loss. Joe is now at rest and relieved of the terrible disease that consumed him. His body may be gone but his heart, soul, love for you live on. We just have to be open to receiving their messages. They cannot communicate with us now, as most could not during the worst of the disease, but he is with you. He was always with you in his heart even as his brain was stolen. Watch for him in subtle signs as time passes. It can be a smell, a sound, the sense of someone touching you, finding something lost for a long time, etc., etc. Just know you were always in his heart as his brain failed.
