Our House is a Mess

I saw this morning a post from someone regarding how their house is now messy due to spouse having dementia. I completely understand. My DH not only has VD, but is also a bilateral above the knee amputee. So that is a totally different issue. He has a motorized wheelchair and he has struggled with maneuvering it. Therefore, several of our doorways have been demolished, our refrigerator and stove have serious slashes on the bottom of them, and our vinyl floor is bubbling and/or has scratches in them. I have talked with our handyman who says it's fruitless to repair any of it, because it will only return. So, we live like our house is a mess, which I absolutely hate. He also has urine accidents, along with our dog, so that doesn't help. I plan to stay this way until DH is no longer creating these issues bc I don't have the finances to fix it twice. BTW, his motorized wheelchair weighs 331 lbs. I am embarrassed to have people come over, but they will have to get over it. You are not alone……
