Constant Need for new creative strategies!

It is amazing, how I constantly need to be "on my toes" with my mom (mild-mod-Alz in AL). I recently (due to this groups' suggestion) got Google Voice so my mom wouldn't constantly be texting and calling my real number. I can now check Google Voice (& MSG) when I want to, 2x/day. It has greatly lowered my stress response! But it also removed me from her "Location Sharing" as I removed my real iPhone number from her contacts. I check her whereabouts a few times a day on my MyFind app. This tells me if she is downstairs for breakfast or lunch, or in one of the programs or activities. She can tend to get stuck staying in her apartment. So . . . NEW STRATEGY, and ANOTHER WORKAROUND . . . today I'm going to add back my iPhone's telephone number and name myself with a dash (-) and add me (-) back to her location services. I'm always looking for ways to stay one step ahead of her!

BTW, FindMy once found my mom at Walgreens, about .7 miles from her AL (she is not in memory care). She walked with her walker, with a friend w/similar issues, from her residence, but my mom is not allowed out of the building without family

oh believe me…I’m constantly saying “Mom always finds a way to throw another wrench into the plan” because of having to keep on my toes as well. Lol. My mom lives with me and hubby but just when we think we have a workaround, she comes up with something new (a new behavior, a dislike to something she used to like, etc). Here’s to all of us who continue to find ways to get around the wrenches!

I even had to come up with a Work Around for my Work Around yesterday! I added my iPhone contact just so I could use FindMy and know her whereabouts. But she immediately saw the (-) that I had "named" my contact and asked me if I recognized the number (my number!) LOL, I forgot that punctuation always is at the top of the alphabetical list!! So . . . I scrolled down her contacts and chose to put MY NUMBER on her So Cal Gal contact, as she doesn't even have gas. So now my name is So Cal Gas!!! It is unending! Love the sharing of the ideas in this group to keep us sane!

Mom is in a facility and I bring her a 12pack of pop about every 2 weeks. She will not let me take the pop cans for return. My brother has on occasion taken her to the store so she could return them, but then lets her buy whatever nonsense she thinks she needs. Googly eyes for a nonexistent craft project isn’t too bad, but a hot glue gun is out of the question. I refuse to put myself in a position where I have to have this discussion/argument with her in a store. The last time I tried to get the pop cans she insisted I bring her the money for them. Memory is not as big of a problem as it is for most, so I would be shocked if she doesn’t ask for the money at my next visit. Good grief.
