Room to Room
We have a bathroom that’s got two doors, one from the hallway and one from the kitchen. You can literally walk into bathroom from hall, go through it and exit on the kitchen side and walk around back to hallway and complete the circle. Well that’s what my DW with EOAD has been doing literally for the past hour or so. It’s like her race track. I think I’m gonna call it the Water Closet 500. 😂 Is this part of sundowning? It started at 1:30 pm.

Well she’s getting some good exercise!

My DW will walk around the house for hours although lately things seem to be changing after dealing with this literally for years. Just try to make sure she’s comfortable and not overly agitated. But if she gets into this walking stage like my wife you will begin to see she is burning more calories than she’s taking in. And then weight loss follows that. And then before you know it she’s only taking bites when she’s passing by. Hope you’re not heading in this direction. It’s exhausting and you’ll soon start to turn up the meds. Keep us posted.

My dh's memory care facility seemed to be built with this in mind—one could walk and walk around and around on curved paths either outside or in the building without ever getting to a locked door.

🤣😂So sorry blacksparky I’ve been chuckling away since I read about the racetrack The Water Closet 500. Our grandchildren use the two kitchen exits the same way playing chasey. No help just thank you for the laugh.

My DH’s memory care facility was the same way. It was perfect for him as one of the few things he always wanted to do was walk. It felt much less confining than other facilities I visited.

yes, it is sundowning . I did smile at the water closet 500! My DH walks from the living room window to the kitchen and back and forth. I give him 5mg melatonin late afternoon to help settle some of this but he does get a little exercise .
