Plan B
I realized what plan B meant today. I went to urgent care for an asthma exacerbation. When they called my name I stood up and for some weird reason my right leg buckled and I was on the floor. I broke my fibula near my ankle and my 5th metatarsal. I totally freaked out everyone in the waiting room including the staff.I was sent home with steroids for the asthma and an appointment with Ortho tomorrow. I have a boot on and was told “NO” weightbearing. It’s my right foot so a friend picked me up and my daughter retrieved my car later. But let me just say, once I got home I glimpsed what things will be like going forward. DH can’t follow a one step direction and even if he could he can’t remember it long enough to complete it. There is NO way I am going to be able to stay off my foot as advised. Tomorrow we will uber to his infusion and my ortho appointment. You really can’t make this stuff up. Wish me luck!

I’m definitely wishing you luck. I gave up riding my horse out of fear of something happening and my husband being unable to navigate our circumstances. Hoping for the best for you.

Good luck tomorrow. I stopped climbing ladders about a year ago. I also just bought one of those medical alert things that you hang around your neck for emergencies. If I were to hurt myself DW would not have any idea first that I was hurt and second knowing what to do then. We all have such a tough road ahead.

so sorry! Hope all goes well! 💜

Thank you. And how sad for you to have to give up riding. I’m sorry.

So sorry you’re going through this! It was one of my biggest fears that something would happen to me and I would need care while also managing my DH. I hope for the best for you!

I haven't learned plan A yet now I need a plan B. How are you all so strong? You just keep going, I know, I do too and I think of the things I'm saying no to and thinking "I can't leave for 3 days".
Plan B .

I am so sorry this happened to you. Can you hire a caregiver now to help until you are well enough to care for your husband? You can’t jeopardize your health. By walking on your foot, you will cause more damage and risk other falls.

@Lethe
Yikes!
I hope the ortho appointment went well. Any chance you could use a knee scooter while you're healing?
Would it be possible for your DH to do a respite stay in MC while you focus on your own healing?

@Lethe I’m so sorry! I hope all went well with your appointment today.
Respite care for your husband while you heal, or in-home help to give you a break might help your situation.
Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹2 -
I agree with the others. Emergency respite placement for your spouse…or emergency respite placement for both of you in assisted living. Some of them keep open apartments just for respite.
