I was just diagnosed with frozen shoulder on the left and bone on bone on the right shoulder requiring shoulder replacement. I’ve opted for cortisone shot and PT ; as I cannot figure out how to take care of DH 6 yrs into VD . How do all of you deal with this? I woke up this morning to go to PT to find my left foot was swelled and painful to touch or bend toes! I iced it and managed to find a shoe to fit and off toPT. Came home, DH never asked about PT or my foot! Just started yelling at me about where his car is!! Yet I managed to take him out to get herbs to plant, have lunch at his favorite restaurant and order Chinese food for him because he wanted that for dinner. Only to be yelled at because the gardener showed up when we we about to eat!! Patience is hard to find! God help us! Please! Thanks for this group!

Hi, JC5, I'm sorry you are going through so much right now. In my case, I needed surgery twice when my DH was still at home. He has been in MC for two years now. The first surgery, our daughter was able to come and stay and take care of her dad while I had the surgery and for a while afterward. The second surgery, I needed more help. Our son an his adult daughter were able to come for about 10 days. Our son took care of his dad and our granddaughter helped me and did the cooking. If something like that is not an option for you, there are some facilities that have respite care where your love one can stay for a couple of weeks or even a month. That might be worth looking into. I hope you can find a way to have the surgery you need. Please try to take care of yourself.

I had frozen shoulder several years ago. Here’s my bottom line. PT was useless. Give it 3 to 6 months and it will clear itself up. And that’s basically what my orthopedist told (after he wasted my time with PT).

My heart breaks for you, @JC5. My DH is still in stage 4, as far as I can tell, and my patience can sometimes wear thin already. Thankfully, he is still mostly kind, so I feel blessed, for the most part, when I read others' experiences. I do worry a lot about facing issues in the future that are similar to what you are facing right now.

I have been doing PT for my knee through a virtual program. There is a real Doctor of PT that evaluated me. Patients can do the evaluation via phone call or video chat, or (like I did) they can opt to do it via emails and questionnaires. The doctor then prescribed exercises on a tablet that was shipped to me. What I love about it is that I can do the exercises at my convenience [LOL, is anything convenient anymore?], such as when DH is napping.

The Dr of PT checks in with me and adapts the exercises, depending on my pain level and ability. The tablet uses AI to give me real-time feedback on my movements. It's not perfect, but my knees are responding much better than when I went to in-person PT. The program is completely free to me through my insurance.

    Praying you find some relief,

    Gram

Gram, is this Hinge? I have used Hinge through my employer and boy, it's really a godsend. I had a 3-part tibial plateau fracture and after healing my left leg was so weak (I was on a walker and then a cane for a time) and that program really helped me rebuild the strength in that leg.

    It is Sword Thrive… https://meet.swordhealth.com/thrive

But the program is very similar to Hinge… https://www.hingehealth.com/

I agree, virtual PT has been a godsend.

JC5, it's like "you're me." I know this guy and he can be like a "terroist" when he gets rolling. Hard road to be on for sure.
