Lost all personal info
Today the Hospice nurse was here for weekly visit. Most weeks we talk about how the last week has went and then vitals are checked. About every 6 months or so they will ask my DH personal questions. Usually he can always tell the nurse his name and then the other information such as where he is, what season it is, etc is never answered correctly. Well today he could not answer when asked his name. That’s the first time this has happened. So another first that is just so sad.

I’m so sorry! One of the many gut punches we get with this disease. Maybe it was just a one-time issue? My DH would once in a while ask me “are you my wife?” Or “is this our home?” But it seemed to be a rare question that popped up once in a while. The rest of the time he remembered. I hope this is true for your DH.

My DH could tell you his social security number without a problem, till last week when the hospice nurse ask him. He couldn't remember it. It was a shock to me.

DW had a habit of using 2 digits for the year of her birth date saying 76 instead of 1976. She can no longer comprehend her birth year is 1976 not just 76 answering the question wrong recently and yes shocking the first time it happens and we realize they have lost another little piece of themselves.

My DH (stage 5) still knows his name, can tell it to you haltingly, but can’t write it or print it without help. Doesn’t remember my name usually, or that we’re married. Shadows me constantly so at least he knows I’m his “person.” He can’t remember who our 2 daughters are or their names, and doesn’t remember that we have 4 grandchildren (that we see all the time) or their names.
When we first realized back in 2021 that he was forgetting/had forgotten these family relationships, I was absolutely stunned - and our daughters were angry at first. Now we all, incl grandkids, understand and try to be patient with PopPop. I don’t want the grandkids to worry so I always tell them that medical science cures will handle this problem before they get old.2 -
My husband is now stage 5, diagnosed at stage 4 last August. During the evaluation he couldn’t tell the Neuropsychologist what town he lives in. He could, however, easily recite his full address. That was one of many surprises for me.

My DH and I live in a senior independent living apartment. I asked him to take our recycling container to the trash room, which is the next door down from our door. He has been doing this for several years. He took the recycling container to the front desk at the entrance to the building and ask what he should do with it. I was shocked. Guess I will have to do the emptying now.

My FIL can remember his social and his full name including nickname but doesn’t know what day of the week this is
Sometimes his son is his son, nice friend or his brother just depends on the minute. Weirdest thing is that he never forgets the name of one of his great grandchildren, our 6 year old grandson is his “main man, his best friend.” However, he has 8 other greats that he never mentions.
