Finances
This is what worries me the most. How are we going to financially pay for my DH’s care. We rent our house, don’t have savings or long term insurance and we make too much for Medicaid. This totally freaks me out. My DH just thinks insurance is going to pay. I need to work. When the time comes I don’t know what to do

Don't panic. There are resources. I recently spoke to an Elder Care Attorney and they have a Medicaid expert in their office who has helped qualify so many people with no savings or assets but too much income. You just need to find the right resources and help. Is your DH a Veteran? VA Healthcare can also help a lot. Find a good Dementia or Memory support group in your area. The people who attend and are further along the journey will have invaluable advice and recommendations.

Make an appointment with an Elder Care attorney now. Go by yourself and talk to one. They will explain how Medicare works in your state. (Each state is slightly different.) Getting knowledge can ease the stress and worry you are feeling.

I have looked up some. I am going to get papers together. I think going by myself for at least the first appointment is a very good idea. Thank you.

You may have seen this before, but just in case you haven’t. It’s complicated, but maybe it will help you with some quest to ask the lawyer. I agree that you should do this as soon as possible. You might also check with your local commission on aging.

My wife is in a Medicaid Program called Programs of All Inclusive Care for Elder (PACE). It is actually a joint Medicaid and Medicare program. They pay the majority of the money for memory care. The social security she gets is also paid to the Medicare Center. There is a small amount that is for personal items if she needs them at the center.
