The general advice is to take care of yourself so you can take care of someone else. I can't even get to a #$%& dental appointment. Frustrating is not the word for it.

Thanks for listening.

Is it time for a facility, do you think? I know that this has been consuming all your time.

I am so sorry. Is there any respite in your area? We are finding out my dad’s insurance pays for someone to come in.

@Grenah, that is tough. I am so sorry to hear.

@trishalc, you are blessed. My mom's insurance offers assistance, but only after a hospitalization.

Your loved one might be eligible for the new Medicare GUIDE program, which provides a grant for caregiving, meaning if your LO qualifies then you would get some free help. Worth looking into, we've benefited from it. It's not enough hours for full-time care, but enough to give you a few hours a week to yourself.

I understand your frustration. My Mom has passed almost 11 years now. I stay connected to this site because we are a support group and these discussions really helped me when I was caring for my Mom. Emmee seems to have some good advice. I know nothing about that program, so hopefully it can help you. But I can say for sure that you will need help, and you must find someone that can give you a break from time to time. I am an only child, so I didn't have any family to turn to for the long haul, but I had a young teenage son who would entertain his grandmother for a little bit, which also helped me accomplish the day to day tasks. I was reluctant at first, but, I did call upon some very close friends who were kind enough to sit with my Mom for a few hours so I could take care of the things that I needed to. You owe yourself that. Sending caring thoughts and hoping you find some stress relief.
