Hey There
My spouse has mild late onset AD and polyneropathy. We're in what I call the Dr Jekyll and MS Hyde stage. She can shower when I get her too, go to the bathroom though I question the paperwork, and she can walk within the house. I do all the finance and meals. I started having some folks come over to help watch-sit with her and that does allow me to run errands. Lately she has been more Ms Hyde and I'm struggling with that. If she gets to the point of not showering, falling, and such I can not help her due to a back injury years ago.
I want to do what is best for her. I am looking into MC and I'm struggling with it. I've heard from other folks and they all seem to say ythe same thing - "take care of yourself". I get that. I know an MC unit is better equiped than I am in handling her situation. Everytime I question myself she is gone and reminds I'm out of my depth.
When I am able to get her out of the house and go somewhere she's ready leave shortly after we get there. The last time I was doing a demonstration and everybody knew she was ready to go. She used to enjoyed my dancing and sometimes participated with me.
I've priced out the Home care and the MC and so far I'm not seeing much of a difference.

Thank you for letting me vent alittle

You should consider call the the ALZ association help line. 800.272.3900. They have people who will listen to the specifics of your circumstances and guide you toward resources that guide you through your available options. If you are serious about MC, then you should get a professional to review your financial situation and make you aware of the options.

I am new here also. I’m in about 6 years with my DW journey.

We found an Adult Enrichment Center to go to twice a week. It really helps me to be able to get somethings done on my own, shopping, chores, maintenance, etc. She didn’t always like it and would try to follow me back out the door. Now that she has progressed it’s better. Staff distracts her and I can slip out.

They also connected me with a service coordinator for the Medicare Guide Program. It basically will help pay for some respite care like daycare or some MC stays.
