Behavior change question.
My DH has started Saying I Don't Know What To Do. This started when he wakes up at night and now has progessed to morning and occasionally threw out the day.
Has anyone experienced this? And if so is this a temporary change or has it become permanent?
5 1/2 years diagnosed.
Thanks

We did go through that a few years ago. It did fade away at least the saying it part did. I think the not knowing what to do is still there. But we have transitioned to the next change, and more to come.

It’s another part of the progression. You will notice more and more changes like this. It’s another unfortunate part of the disease that confounds those of us who live with the person.

Not exactly the same but similar for DW who was diagnosed 9 years ago. I learned to reduce choices to two, but even that transitioned to the response, "You decide."
I do believe this is pretty common as they lose trust in their own ability to make the right choices and decisions. We become not just their caregiver but their brain and that gives them comfort.
The problem is if we quit asking, then they will feel isolated from us, their only reliable friend and partner. I think we have to keep them participating any way we can.

I agree with Chris20cm. Especially the last paragraph.
