Do delusions end, go away, stop?

My wife has is now having delusions. Most are just odd. But now she has decided that I (a 78 year old) have married a wealthy 45 year old woman in Montana! Yes there is some humor to that, but she is intensely angry with me. My wife is in an MC facility here in AZ. I have no idea what triggered this delusion. Will this delusion go away? Does that happen? Or am I doomed to be a bigamist in her mind from now on?

Hi dsl11 - that part of it should go away. She may come up with something else. Do tell her doc that she is having these delusions. And who knows, it could have been something she saw on TV, or heard someone say that triggered it. We just never know. But if it is causing agitation, which it sounds like, perhaps a med should be added or increased to help with that. There are many that don't bring on being zombied.

Agree - it 'almost' sounds amusing, until you are the brunt of it all. Sorry you are dealing with that.

I would just say don't disagree with her. Don't encourage, rather, her comments could be met with, "I see" or "No, I haven't seen him". If the delusions are partnered with other extreme behaviors, you could check on a uti. My mom used to say the person in the room next door had a neck that could peer out their window and stretch all the way around into hers…

Thanks for your encouragement. Today I learned that I apparently took my wife (my only wife!) to meet this woman. Her name is Karen and she is a millionaire and now she is from Minnesota.🙃 My wife was checked for a UTI. Negative. The PCP and the psychiatrist decided not to increase the quetiapine because they worry about possible falls. She has micro-hemorrhages in the brain, probably CAA.

My DWs delusions/ confabulations have only been odd and harmless. I’m not even sure they are full blown delusions as you are having. I play along as long as it remains harmless and she doesn’t get stressed out. I don’t try to correct her. The stories change all the time but haven’t stopped.
