Big Girl Pants

Just rambling really, however this phrase, which totally amused me and made me laugh ‘Big Girl Pants’ was brought to my attention by our executive daughter on her rise upwards in the work field. She said to me “well I’ve got the job, now I have to put on my Big Girl Pants and show how mature I can be”. I found this phrase to be extremely amusing. Good luck said I. So this morning, having a snatched phone conversation with a very good friend, it suddenly struck me, and I said all I want to do is take off my Big Girl Pants and be totally irresponsible for a change. I had the opportunity to go to a casual cocktail hour last week. Took lots of organising but dropped DH at our daughters place with pizzas for all and off I went for a couple of hours, at night even, on my own in the car, I didn’t realise it then but the Big Girl Pants came off and ‘muscle memory’ of times past snapped into gear and for this very short time I felt wonderful. Even if my feet hurt from wearing proper heals instead of sneakers! ha ha So now in future when I am doing stuff I’m not keen on like wiping a bottom yeck I say to my self “dam it I’ve got those Big Girl Pants on again” and I remember my commitment and responsibilities with love and humour. You’ve got to laugh occasionally. Take care.

    You have a great perspective biggles. Really glad you got to get out for a while and practice being human again - instead of having to be super human all the time.

    Actually forgot about cocktails and had to go alcohol free because of driving - I’ll remember, if there is a next time, and catch a cab!!
